This is very understated but it is fitting for one of the unsung heroes of the war. you don't notice this until you come across it and it's fitting tribute to such a great unassuming man who helped the allies win the war.

Today I saw the statue of Barnes Wallis and was intrigued thinking he might have been born in HB . it took me some time to establish that he trialled the bouncing bombs there. Surely this important fact should be on the statue's plinth.

The statue is unremarkable but does what it intends in that it commemorates the work of Barnes Wallis. It is well designed and positioned looking out to see from a place near to where he would have stood to watch the practice bombs being dropped....More

Not sure how you review a statue. A great man who made HB part of his history with the testing of the bouncing bomb.

Today we have a generation who regard the SWW as History but it is entirely fitting that this statue should be here where the bouncing bombs were rehearsed. They were used effectively against the Mohne,Eder and Sorpe dams. The film "The Dam Busters" brings this to life.The...More

Just a statue of Barns Wallis, but it was at Reculver (just a short distance away) that the famous rolling bombs were tested in WW2.

A great statue that highlights the achievement of the great man. Read the plaque, bask in his glory and remember the enormous sacrifice all those made for us.
