The walk to the Battery takes you along stunning cliff paths, The battery itself is not huge but there are good explanations of its significance in protecting the maritime routes along the south coast. Inside the battery are artefacts from World War II and a delightful tea room with enviable views.

What a lovely tearoom! Staff were lovely, tea was very welcome after a walk in the rain! Lovely cake too. A chance to look out the big windows at the needles. It has a very 1940's feel, some great pictures on the walls too. A must!

With cable cars, 4D cinema, sand shop, cafes, sweet shop, gift shops. Even trips to the battlement on an open top bus. Something for everyone.

A very pleasant walk from the car park at Alum bay. Very interesting with fantastic views of the surrounding area. Dog's welcome even in part of the tea room.

We have visited before but walked to the Needles over the downs. Wonderful views with the sea on both sides. The battery has a great history, being both a fort from Victorian times to the home of the British Space Exploration - yes we had tickets built on the Island and tested at the Needles before being shipped to Australia... An extremely interesting place to view modern history in a stunning location! With an opportunity for a nice cream tea in the old Port War Signal Station.

As a National Trust member thought we'd visit here whilst on the island . Parked the car at the Needles Attraction £5 all day or free for NT members . The walk to the batteries is about 1.25 miles although there appears to be a bus that runs up there . It's a pleasant walk not too steep!!!. On reaching... More

We visited mid-afternoon on a gloriously sunny day which made the views as we walked to the Battery even more stunning! On arrival at the Battery we were met by an incredibly helpful gentleman who gave us information about both Batteries. As a result we decided to head up to the new Battery (as it shuts an hour earlier!). The... More

Really enjoyed our visit to the Needles Old Battery. Walked up from Alum Bay car park(£5 for all day parking). The walk was easier than it looked and the views of Alum bay and the mainland were worth the effort. We enjoyed looking around the old battery and learning about its past. Best part was the spectacular view of the... More
