Oasis of peace in a busy city.

Small by cathedral standards but very peacful and interesting. An oasis of peace in an otherwise busy city.

I went to the Cathedral during a visit to Chelmsford, It is quite small compared to some others. The church on this site became the Cathedral when the Diocese of Chelmsford was created in 1914. There is much of interest to see, including the Tree of Life painting and the centenary mosaic. Well worth a visit, recommended.

Having lived in Chelmsford for 10 years and worked there for even longer on a Sunday afternoon after a shopping trip decided to finally take a look around! So pleased we did. It is a very attractive cathedral although it is not very big. It has beautiful stone work and an interesting history. well worth spending 30 minutes looking around... More

We attended Evening with a Celebration of New Ministry (the appointment of a new Archdeacon). The staff were friendly and helpful. The service was approachable.

A beautiful place with an incredible cathedral in the middle of the town, which is quite rare to see nowadays.

Chelmsford cathedral might only be the 2nd smallest Cathedral in England but what in lacks in size it certainly compensates with things of interest. Everything about the inside of the cathedral was very special. The stained glass windows, statues, organ, ceiling were all stunning. The exterior is pretty stunning too with the tower and small little green spire. Definitely the... More

There is nothing to particularly recommend this church as a place to visit - the architecture seems very odd a complete mish mash of ages including modern "renovations" - certainly not improvements

When we have been shopping in Chelmsford we often visit the Cathedral & just sit & absorb the peace & tranquility of this ancient place of worship. If you are stressed or worried about something, your concerns just seem to dissapear when you are within its welcoming walls away from the hustle & bustle of the world outside.
