About
In late April/early May Pashley Manor’s spectacular Tulip Festival sees this garden, on the border of Sussex and Kent, carpeted with over 35,000 tulips, creating stunning scenes for visitors to enjoy. Tulips are followed by over 100 varieties of roses through June, hundreds of scented lilies, the kitchen garden showcasing an abundance of produce and a blaze of colour provided by hundreds of dazzling dahlias, during the Dahlia Days event in early September. Complemented by a fantastic café with a beautiful terraced seating area, exhibitions of sculpture and art and a lovely gift shop Pashley is a great destination for a day out.

    Spring visit
Beautiful gardens - not huge but well worth a visit. The cafe serves light lunches ( the soup was delicious) plus tea/coffee and lovely cakes. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The rhododendrons were a sight to behold, all the garden was well maintained and surrounding countryside is stunning

Worth Finding. A beautifully done garden.
This was a little off the path for us as we'd concentrated on seeing the bigger "name" gardens, but we're really glad we made the trip. These are immaculate grounds with a great array of interesting plants and flowers. The setting is superb with a nice mix of gardens, water and sculpture. We spent a couple of hours here and could have spent more but for a previous commitment. Lunch at the café was excellent and the time here was extremely enjoyable. It's worth finding Pashley Manor and spending some time.

    A lovely garden to visit
Everything is well tended and colourful at this time of year. It is a joy to walk around the lovely borders, walled garden, wooded walk, etc. We arrived mid afternoon and wished it had ben earlier so we could try out their delightfully positioned cafe. This garden is one of the best in the area.

Glorious. Could have done without grumpy rude customers and serving ladies
Gorgeous Pashley. What a lovely place to be on a fine summers day. Been before ages ago about four times and they have since built a lovely gift shop. Very nice friendly gardener introduced us to 'Fiona' the black swan, who talks a lot and waddled slowly to the expansive lake where the ducks were swimming. Tasteful sculpture, and well laid out kitchen garden, wonderful roses and dahlias, rubeckia, and plants I cannot name ...and peaceful, so peaceful. The trees and shrubs, the attention to aspect, so wherever the eye lands there is grace and symmetry . Breathtaking. The varieties of trees shrubs wondrous. The house is a tranquil romantic place, Elizabethan with Regency additions at the back and a tea room which serves good wine, and quality ice creams and good quality salads, if very overpriced. But inflation is hitting us all. I would have given five stars but for the surly disorganised way of dishing it out, with grumpy older visitors pushing in the queue, ignoring disabled people, and no directions of where to queue. £20 for 2 oz of cheddar a tomato salad with bread and butter, and one glass of wine. The ladies on the till made up for the grumpy serving ladies with good humour.

    Craft Fair Bank holiday weekend.
We came here early on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend to take in both the advertised craft fair and the gardens and the entrance fee was £15 per adult for both. The Craft fair in the big marquee was OK but the gardens are the real star here. The walled garden is very impressive, but we also thoroughly enjoyed walking the grounds and searching out the various statues dotted about. If we ever win the lottery I will come back and buy one. The woodland walk is well worth doing for its serenity and calmness. We only utilised the impressive, terraced café for tea and cake as we were targeting the excellent Queens Head in Icklesham for late lunch on the way back to rye, so cannot pass comment on the food. However, I did think the way they had separated the main meals from the tea and cake section was very sensible and seemed to be controlling the queues in that we didn’t experience any.

    A lovely garden
The car park is near the entrance and a short walk from the ticket entrance and shop. Toilets are by the house, which isn't open. It's not a huge garden, but it has a series of "rooms" with different planting. At the time of year we went it was peak dahlia time. There are also some interesting statues dotted around. You can walk round the lake. There are garden tours available. The cafe does a selection of cakes and drinks, with indoor and outdoor seating.

Enjoyed our visit to Pashley manor. Very pretty gardens with a nice gift shop & cafe ( great lemon & ginger cake ) Listened to a talk in the cottage garden about no dig gardening which was really interesting!

Had a lovely time today, weather helped as it was a glorious day. There was a talk about roses from the head gardener, it being rose week ,which was both interesting and helpful regarding different rose varieties and their maintenance.

We also ate in the cafe; the food was delicious most of which is locally sourced or produced.

Sadly, everything about Pashley Manor is overpriced. The entrance fee is £14 for adults and £6 for children, for what is a very average garden. The gift shop items are all overpriced (although in fairness, that is common everywhere) and the food prices are just ridiculously high.

Look, if you have money to burn and see spending close to £100 for a family of four to walk around a garden and have a bite to eat, as money well spent, then good luck to you.

Later this same week I visited the stunningly beautiful Nyman’s House and Gardens using our well priced National Trust family membership (Great food, great prices) and did not have the feeling of being fleeced, as I did at Pashley Manor.

My youngest got some enjoyment of the visit but that was mainly because we were playing games together to try and make things entertaining.

I’m not knocking the staff (apart from the woman who questioned whether I’d paid for my food!) as most of them were pleasant and hard working. I just take exception to a venue that takes liberties with people’s hard earned money because they see an opportunity.

Avoid.
