About
Sedlescombe is England's oldest organic vineyard, first established 1979 by Roy Cook. It's also home to the oldest Biodynamic vines in England, first certified in 2010. Sedlescombe is also believed to be the first English vineyard to win an international award for an English still red wine (2013). Set deep in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and in the heart of '1066 Country' there are stunning countryside views from the vineyard and lots to see and do in the surrounding area. Individual visitors and small groups are welcome to pop in for a self-guided stroll through the vines & woodland, or why not pre-book a guided tour and tasting and check out the catering options available! All tours include a tasting of Sedlescombe's range of international award-winning wines, and wine can be purchased from the cellar door.

    A fab vineyard tour
We visited the Vineyard first thing in the morning and our tour was just for us so we had the full attention of our guide and it was really enjoyable. It's hard not to be affected by the passion that the staff have for the vineyard and we did end up with a case of wine! But we had a really enjoyable morning and would highly recommend going along for a tour. Great value for money.
So lovely to see that you had a great time with us at Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard, and that you'd recommend us to others. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review, thank you. We hope to see you again! Best wishes, The Sedlescombe Organic Team

    A perfect birthday treat
We had the most wonderful ploughmans's lunch and wine tasting tour here today in this stunningly beautiful setting. The tour itself was extremely informative and we learnt a lot as well as tasting some really delicious wines. The food far exceeded our expectations and had two lovely local cheeses as well as a myriad of other delectable and tasty morsels. Our dog was welcomed and fussed over and delighted to be given a pup cup! This was exceptional value for money and a really enjoyable experience, even on such a windy rainy day. Thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review Sue, we really appreciate it. It's great to see that you enjoyed the tour and our delicious lunch, and that the weather didn't affect your visit! We hope to see you all again soon! Best wishes, The Sedlescombe Organic Team

A perfect sunny afternoon with wine
I like wine. A lot. So I knew this would be a lovely afternoon but it really exceeded my expectations. Sharon was a funny and very knowledgeable tour guide, it was a beautiful setting and the wine was delicious. We would definitely revisit for a lunch or afternoon tea and have our eyes on the beautiful Air BnB accommodation for a mini break. Thanks so much, Sharon. Cheers!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write us such a lovely review Catherine. Delighted to see that you had a fab time on your tour with Sharon, and that you're thinking of joining us in our gorgeous AirBnb! We hope to see you at the Vineyard again soon. Wonderful Wine Wandering
We enjoyed a fabulous wine tasting and tour today, with a delicious cream tea too. Sharon was a brilliant guide, very knowledgeable and great fun too. We enjoyed the wines and the history and learning about the bio dynamic nature of the vineyard. We also took a tour of the beautiful, tranquil Airbnb, we can’t wait to book it for a long weekend! We left with some goodies to enjoy at a later date, hooray! Thank you Sharon, you made the day a memorable treat.
Great to see that you had a lovely time with Sharon our our Tour & Tasting, and that you enjoyed the wines and cream tea too! We really appreciate you taking the time to write us a review, and we hope to see you again soon! Best wishes, The Sedlescombe Organic Team

Biodynamic and organic vineyard with differentiated story
Wonderful biodynamic and 100% organic vineyard in East Sussex with various sister vineyards and brands dotted around the south of England. This found the Silver Reign sparking wine the standout from the large selection. It is an absolute joy to drink. The tastings are conducted in person by knowledgeable staff. We didn’t get offered an opportunity to walk around or view the vines which was a shame. Personally I find the Sedlescombe branding doesn’t help establish its credibility as it looks quite like branding for non-alcoholic spirits / botanicals or cordials. It has a differentiated story and sticks to its organic and biodynamic roots, so all credit to it for that. Definitely worth dropping in if you are passing or in the area.
Hi Amanda. Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review, we really appreciate it. So pleased to see that you enjoyed our new release Silver Reign from our sister vineyard in Luddesdown. We hope you can come and visit us again, and we'll make sure you see the vines! Excellent tour, lunch and very friendly staff
The vineyard tour was very interesting and informative, particularly relating to the organic and bio dynamic process and a plus was the wine tasting en route. The ploughman’s lunch after was excellent, particularly the home made sausage roll !!. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We thoroughly recommend this wine tour, which is also good value. Well done to the whole Seddlescombe team.
So great to see that you enjoyed yourself when you joined one of our tours, and really lovely to see that you'd recommend us to others, thank you. We really appreciate you taking the time to write us a review. We hope to see you at the vineyard again soon! Best wishes, The Sedlescombe Organic Team

    Great Spontaneous trip
My girlfriend and I came here on a whim this afternoon and had a serving of flights to taste. We were served by the lovely Sharon who gave us the lowdown on the vineyard and the wines. Defo coming back with some friends to do a full tour, as we loved the setting, wine and company!

    We love it here!
We live locally and the vineyard has become a favourite place to stop off after walking the dogs. It’s a lovely setting backing on to beautiful fields with woodland nearby. Great coffee n cake and sometimes we’ll sample their delicious wines too. Thank you team for always making us feel so welcome, come rain or shine 😊

Nice people, good food and service.
We were very impressed with the service and the food. Nice people. My friend is vegan and they were able to offer her a very nice ploughmans salad with vegan cheese and a vegan sausage roll. We also had some organic pear juice from a local farm. We were also very impressed that they use bio dynamic methods to fertilise the soil for the vines. We want to go back again before too long.
Hi Robert. Delighted to see that you had a lovely time when you came to visit us, and that you particularly enjoyed our Ploughman's Picnics. We look forward to welcoming you back to the vineyard again soon! Best wishes, The Sedlescombe Organic Team

Friends bought me a birthday voucher for the deluxe vineyard tour and lunch at Sedlescombe.

It's an inspiring and fascinating place set in the beautiful and tranquil rolling Sussex countryside. The vineyard tour, expertly conducted by Adele, explained the biodynamic and organic processes that produce the wine.

We then got to taste the wine: Adele talked us through 2 whites, 1 rose and a red, plus the sparkling - which I have to say is probably one of the best I have ever had.

After that came a delicious ploughmans lunch with local cheeses and homemade chutney.

The staff were all lovely, charming and knowledgeable, and the vineyard itself was so beautiful.

We bought some wines to take home, and treated ourselves to two of the exquisite small-size glasses too.

We were invited by our friends to the vineyard for a tour, a wine tasting, and lunch.
The tour was conducted by Chris, and it was very good.
Then came the wine tasting (by which time it was 2.30), and we were starving at that point.
I have been to many wine tasting, and I have always been given crackers, or a bit of bread, or some kind of snack.
We were given nothing.
Finally the lunch came...in a deep cardboard box.
It consisted of two bits of cheese, a stale roll, a bit of pickle, a few leaves of lettuce, and a couple of tomatoes (no dressing of course, and it would have been difficult to dress the salad in a cardboard box.
It looked so cheap and uninspiring, I felt so sorry for our friends as they were so embarrassed.
I am a tour guide, and I was seriously thinking about incorporating the visit into one of my tours, but my clients would linch me if I presented them with a very poor ploughman’s in a cardboard box.
What a shame!

We were All treated to a "Highly Informative Vine Yard Experience" The Ploughman`s Lunch along with Hot Drink(s) was well received. The Weather was "Inclement. " Our Host`s" tailored the the visit to suit the Weather condition(s), for which we commend them both (L & E) The Site was well presented & "spotless." The Knowledge both of the Product(s) & the Vine Yard was Outstanding. The "Tasting(s) were enjoyable but then these Wine Product(s) are not the normal "off the Shelf" purchase(s). I recommend a "Tour & Tasting."

Really interesting and informative bespoke wine tasting for our group. We were treated to some really tasty wine in relaxed surroundings, not at all rushed so we could properly enjoy the experience. I’m sure we’ll return! Thank you.

Fantastic insight into biodynamic wine making. Interesting guide gave us a tour around the vineyard. Wine tasting followed on a lovely terrace and served a tasty afternoon tea. Great afternoon and the sparkling wine is much better than many champagnes I’ve tasted - best British sparkling by a long way

Dear LokiLaaLaa Wow, that's high praise indeed! What a lovely review - thank you for such glowing feedback. I will make sure the rest of the team get the praise they deserve as a result of your comments. I have to admit, I have been known to relax with a glass of our wine on the terrace a couple of times myself and I agree with you - it's just a perfect view. Brilliant to learn that you found the Biodynamic aspect interesting and that the end product impressed you so much. We can take orders online via our website and deliver directly to you, so grab another bottle or two whenever you feel like it. Kind regards, Stanley

Excellent, relaxing and informative few hours spent here today. Our tour guide, Jemma, was very knowledgeable and friendly, taking time to answer our questions and made it a really lovely experience. We only booked with one days notice but they were happy to accommodate. We had the ploughman’s lunch afterwards, which was delicious, sitting outside in the sunshine. We bought three bottles of wine, but there was no pressure to purchase anything. A perfect afternoon!

We had been given a voucher (at Christmas) for a tour with afternoon tea. We booked ourselves in just after lock-down and were fortunate enough to arrive on a day of blue skies and sunshine. The fabulous new buildings housing the shop and tasting rooms looked amazing and, having arrived early, we thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the lovely terrace with a glass of bubbles. The tour itself was interesting, never having been to an organic vineyard before. We enjoyed the comparisons with some of the larger vineyards we have visited. Afternoon tea was very good. We liked the wines, which is after all what we were there for. We returned the next day to collect our order. It was raining and the tour group were having their tasting indoors that day. Beautiful building of course but we were very happy to have been able to enjoy the terrace the previous day. Just yesterday we had a glass of red from Sedlescombe - really nice wine, light but full of flavour. No sulphites of course which is a bonus.

A "must do" if you're in the area.

Adele gave an informative tour followed by wine tasting and afternoon tea.

We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the wines were fabulous. We would recommend this activity to anybody who has an interest in and wants to learn more about the "organic" wine production.

Beautiful site and great tour by our excellent guide Sharon. We were a party of eight (two families with 16+ teenagers) and we just showed up at the vineyard, no booking in advance. Sharon gave us a warm welcome and took us around the vineyard and we had the tasting during the walk. Interesting hearing about biodynamic farming, how the vineyard was started and that England is an up and coming wine country. Really nice wines and beautiful scenery. Bought a box of wine and cider.

We popped in to have a little tasting on Sunday, we didn’t book ahead but were welcomed in.
The tasting allowed us to chose 3 wines each, we were sat down & given water in their delightful tasting room.
We were told plenty of information about the wines and our the samples were laid out in their recommended order to try.
We wandered through the vines a little as it was a beautiful day.
Lovely place. So glad I bought some to have again at home.
