This is an absolutely beautiful place for a walk. The scenery lovely and the paths not challenging for a walk. The silence and peace much appreciated.

Lovely walk through the Heath, doing the kids quiz, then onto the beach for some sea air. Abbey enjoyed the park and view across the horizon.

Going to answer my own question having just got back. yes it is fine to swim from if a bit stony & relatively sloping. Young children would need watching. High & Low tide marks are realtively close to each other

Usually in the Lake District and on the Lancashire moors it is September through to October, I would guess given a week or so it should be around the same time.
