Visited on a Friday afternoon early October, was further out of the village but we found it ok. Such a peacefully place, spent a couple of hours exploring and photographing the ruins and surrounding areas. The lake had numerous ducks swans and other water birds....More

Situated in what appears to be the middle of Norfolk Nowhere, the Castle is reached by a single width track from narrow rural roads which have passing places - free unattended entry from a reasonably sized car park but no facilities on site…. This is...More

Never having been here, my husband and I visited as part of a walk we were doing. So surprised as what was here, the information boards were informative, and the amount ruins left was incredible. Beautiful surroundings.

Sadly people allow their children to climb all over this castle, the locals and possibly visitors allow their dogs to fowl the area, shame as it’s a nice place and not very populated when you visit.

We are English Heritage members and so came to visit Baconsthorpe on a rainy day! Absolutely stunning site, would be lovely to take a picnic! There were no facilities on site so please bear that in mind For a quick stop it was wonderful

A fantastic find, not really a castle but very interesting and unusual, the kids loved it, and not busy as off the beaten track, literally!,

Beautiful castle ruins, surrounded by picturesque pond and countryside. Sadly, there are no facilities nearby, but I suppose you can't really complain as the site is free entry. Lovely place for a picnic, short walk, or anyone into historical sites.
