We visited on a very hot afternoon, there were half a dozen other visitors. A few more brown directional signs would be helpful. Well presented, free, and fortunately they built it near the car park, ideal for a picnic on a nice day. Lovely lake/pond...More

Car park small but not busy. Shame more not made of it. Seats would be nice. The ruins have had several lives. Amazed to think part of this was lived in until 1920. It is much bigger than appears from the front. To the side...More

Sat nav found it easily and down a long rutted track but the fact that it was 2/3rds closed off for repairs? AND not signed accordingly from the road was annoying. Some good info boards and free !!! with a nice moat and Mere and...More

This ruined castle is set beside a brook in beautiful quiet countryside. It is roughly a kilometre walk from Baconsthorpe Meadows Campsite and the nearest road. The place is not easy to find without an Ordnance Survey map. There are explanation boards by the ruins. There...More

A little gem hidden in the Norfolk countryside. It took us ages to find, the signage is awful but its worth the trouble. We were the only ones there which makes it more magical and the mere is ideal if you want to do a...More

The peaceful remains of a three-storey gatehouse with a two-storey projection for the drawbridge are the best preserved of this fifteenth century fortified Manor House. Recommend.

Had a little trouble finding castle, travelled from Holt, sign hidden in hedge and only viewable from other direction. Castle ruins surrounded by moat and large mere with ducks and swans. Very beautiful. Visit only took an hour as only a few information signs to...More
