Description:

Join us for a snowmobile safari to the closed Russian mining town...

Join us for a snowmobile safari to the closed Russian mining town Pyramiden, in the fjord of Billedfjorden. Pyramiden was previously the largest settlement on Svalbard with about 1500 inhabitants. The town was abandoned in 1998, but the buildings and infrastructure is still intact. We pass Tempelfjellet, a magnificent mountain formation, and the Nordenskiöld glacier. We have lunch outside in Pyramiden. On the way back home we take a coffee break onboard Noorderlicht, a Dutch sailing ship that is frozen in the ice of the Tempelfjord. Svalbard Booking is previously known as Svalbard Snoscooterutleie AS.

apparently only wanted to try out snowmobile and wherever else than on Svalbard in pitch black darkness? on the other hand, after the trip i learnt its not a big deal - probably because we were driving pretty slow not to cause more trouble. there were a few tour members who even had more trouble with the snowmobile than me.... Svalbard is the place where many scientists study climate change and that is exactly what Fred van Olphen has been doing the past 30 years. I was invited to join a Svalbard Safari to the east coast one of the most extreme places you can visit in EUROPE! Wonderful exploring Svalbard by snowmobile is the perfect way to travel across... It was the first time in my life I did not suffer for the cold temperature: the organization was excellent, the artic suit was really perfect, the snowmobiles in good conditions allows the rider to enjoy the incredible site around... I ate here the most original (and desired) lunch in my life!

This is a safe way to hunt for the Aurora borealis - in the darker time of the year. But it also a safe and nice way of exploring the wild and rough landscape of Svalbard - from Longyearbyen. It is several stopovers to explore the nature - make photos in the dark - may be see some really wild... More

It was four hours along the valley to exceptional scenery. We experienced being really out there in the wilderness and could appreciate its true beauty. It was -26 when we went and any exposed skin froze with no opportunity to stop and fix it. They provided boots, helmet, balaclava, jumper, mittens and heavy coat. I would recommend wearing many layers... More
