The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam is a divine place and most revered by Hindus!
The Adhishtanams of Jagadguru PujyaSri Maha Periyava and Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal are at Sri Matham, Kanchipuram!
You can feel the vibrations and at the same time get peace of mind when you spend time inside the Matham. There is a spacious prayer hall opposite to the Adhishtanams and one can sit quiet in a meditative state and enjoy the atmosphere.
Jaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara!

Must visit place in Kanchipuram … Shankar’s matam is one of the main places to visit and it brings a lot of sanctity and peace . Parking is slightly tough here . When we went , they were doing abhishekam for periyava and it was really blissful. The large hall was airy and it can seat a lot of people . One of the main places in history of Hindu religion . Had a good time and will surely go back everytime we go to Kanchipuram. 🙏🙏 hara hara sankara , Jaya Jaya sankara ..

I paid visit to the Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt last Monday. Now the Bridavanam has The Holy Samadhis of both Mahaperiva and Jayendra Saraswathy Swamigal, making it more powerful. A very Divine place and you can feel the vibrations when you sit and meditate there. Daily Poojas are performed as per tradition.
A place one must visit to seek the Blessings of The Guru.

– Acharya was in Vishakhapatnam. Had a darishanam of the Vigrahams. Information on the places visited by Sri Adi Shankaracharya, the numerous works composed by Bhagavadpada etc. were an eye opener and simply mind boggling. Limited parking on the road. Just before the Annandanam, continuous flow of people to the mutt. We did not want to be in the crowd. So, we left.

Peace prevails in this place which gets into you when you stand before the Samadi of Maha Periyaval the former Shankaracharya of Kanchi Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswati. It lets one forget any other shortcomings in managing the Peetham.

The Peetham claims to be founded by Adi Sankara.
Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal is the current pontiff - The 69th head in succession, tracing its history back to the fifth century BCE.
Sri Adi Sankara came to Kanchipuram, and that he established the Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham named "Dakshina Moolamnaya Sarvagnya Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam" in a position of supremacy (Sarvagnya Peetha) over the other mathas of the subcontinent, before his attaining samadhi there.
The Kamakoti Peetam however, traditionally refers to Kamakshi referred popularly as Kamakodi. 'Kamakodi' is of Tamil origin, referring to Goddess Durga. 'Kodi' refers to Durga in the ancient Tamil Sangam literature. Kanchipuram is referred to as Kachi. The Vyakarana Mahabhashya of Patanjali uses the word 'Kanchi' and it can be thus understood that the word Kanchi also has a Sanskrit base. Under The guidance of Sureshvarachaya Adi Shankara appointed Sarvajnatman as the Second Peetadhipathi.
This place is very close to the bus stand, Sri Ekaambareswarar temple and Kamakshi Amman temple.
One of the oldest institution and is worth paying a visit there!

Complete disciple of Maha periyava, want to witness Chandramouleeswara pooja which Adhisankar used to do. But asking for time of performance, reply was very pathetic and I am sure they are noticing people attire (I went with jean Tshirt with backbag- seeing more temples on single day). Mahaperiyavas kindness and politeness was not followed by their forth coming team. This sort of things make only very few to turn around. Jaya jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara

‘Kanchi’ is the short form of Kanchipuram. It is a world famous city in Tamil Nadu. It is famous for many things. Silk sarees with golden thread knitted border called “Pattu” or Pattu saree is the most popular product of this city which is in great demand. During marriage season thousands of customers camp at Kanchi for purchasing the sarees of their choice at their range. The sarees are available to the capacity of a poorest man to richest man. That is the special attraction. The quality is satisfactory and the merchants have established a very good rapport with their customers.
The religiously it is one of the holy shrines for Hindus for the Goddess Kamakshi dwells here in the form of Shakti (Divine Power). According to scriptures Kanchi is one of the 51 Shakti Peetas in the country. The mother goddess dwelling in Kanchi is known “Sri Kamakshi”. In this combination of Sanskrit words “Ka” means Goddess Saraswathi (God of Knowledge), “Ma” to mean mother namely the Goddess Lakshmi (God of Wealth), “Akshi” is the “Eye”. Thus Her name specify that she is the Goddess Saraswathi as well as Goddess Lakshmi. Her two eyes indicate Knowledge and Wealth, which are essentially required for every human being.
As per Hindu scriptures there are seven Mokshapuris in our country. One Mokshapuri out of them is situated in South India at Kanchipuram as ‘Sri Kamakoti peetam’. The main deity is Kamakshi Amman. The temple is known by Her name as Kamakshi Amman temple. Inside the temple the idol is seen at “Gayathri Mandapam”.
The mother Goddess is seen in three forms namely Sri Kamakshi, Sri Bilahasam and Sri Chakram. Sri Kamakshi is sitting in “Padmasana” posture. She has four hands (Chathurbhuje) and holding Pasa, Ankusha, Pushpabhana (arrow of flowers) and Sugarcane in the hands. The Saint Adisankaracharya is said to have made the most powerful and holy “Shree Chakram” which is found in front of Her. This shree Chakram is visible to the devotees as well.
There are idols of other gods inside this temple and the one important among them is that of “Adivaraha Perumal”, one of the 108 Vaishnaivaite deities. The faith is the essential thing required to get the grace of divine mother. It is believed that if childless couple were to pray sincerely She will bless them with child. She has been so graceful to a dumb devotee in making the devotee a poet. She destroys evil and helps goodness to prosper throughout the world.
The special occasions observed in this temple are Navarathri, Bhramotsavam and Pournami (Full Moon Day). She is believed to be distinctively powerful during these periods. It is, therefore, more auspicious to visit the temple in those days to get Her grace, than any other days.
Saint Adisankaracharya is the profounder of Advaitha (Monism) doctrine. He was the person to claim “Aham Brahmasmi” (I am Brahma). It means the human soul and divine soul are not separate. It is one and the same. He had established the Mutt attached to the temple called Kanchi matt. It has been gaining prominence since the 18th century. At present days it is one of the most important religious institutions in South India. The matt has seen many scholars and philanthropist as its pontiffs. The 68th Pontiff was Sri Chandrasekhara Bharathiar, who lived for more than a century and presided over the Mutt for more than half a century. The present Pontiff is well educated, highly knowledgeable and more humanitarian. He is swamiji Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swami and assisted by his junior (70th) Pontiff. The Mutt is involved in many service activities beneficial to the society mainly keeping in view the poor people in the society, without any caste barricades.
Kanchipuram is a city of temples as such it is a celebrated place of pilgrimage. There are other important temples namely Sri Ekambaranatha, Sri Varadaraja, Sri Kailasanathar, Sri Vaikunta Perumal, Ulakalantha Perumal and many others. It is situated at about 74 km to Chennai by road. There is a railway station, which stands midway between Chengalpattu and Arakkonam Junctions. Nearest airport is Chennai.

What is the Timmings of the Mutt?
What is the timing of Chnadramouleeswar Pujan?
Are women allowed in side the mutt?
Is there any particular dress code?
Written 21 December 2018
Morning 6 am to 1230 noon and then from 3 or 4 to 8 pm. The mutt is always open. The timings are only for poojas
Chandramouliswrar Pooja happens if the seer is around in the mutt. Mostly in the mornings at around 8 AM I guess.
Yes women are allowed inside the Mutt
While there is no particular dress code, men in dhothi and women in saree is advisable.
Hope these answers help
