if you like history, hire a guide. Do not fall into the trap, but be prepare to battle inside the temple coz of the rush. Best hours around 8.30 as they close it for some time around 9 and then one block inside is close. Otheriwse after 9,30pm.

Start by choosing a Panda, go over the visit detail/s with him; there will be a bit of pushing as the crowd can be a bit overwhelming but at the end of the day- it's all worth it. Jai Jagganath

Jai Jaganatha Prabhu....please visit temple between 6am to 7am in the morning to avoid heavy rush post that. This is the place where you find a lot of mental piece. You will be very lucky if during the visit you find the flag changing ceremony where a Braveheart Purohit climbs the top of the temple without any safety gear.Hats off to their dedication and faith in Lord Shree Jaganatha. Please arrange for a Panda to perform proper puja.PLEASE DONT BE A MISER AND THINK PEOPLE ARE FLEECING YOU.....You can spend lots on Flight tickets and Pizzas....Your money goes a long way supporting the pandas and Sanatan Dharma in totality

The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri is a beautiful and historic temple that I had the opportunity to visit this week. The temple is rich in history, with a grand and impressive architecture, and intricate carvings on its walls and pillars. The temple complex is also surrounded by well-manicured gardens, which add to the peaceful atmosphere. The atmosphere inside the temple was serene and spiritual, with devotees coming from all over to offer their prayers. Overall, it was a wonderful experience visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the rich culture and history of Puri.

A place for spiritual rejuvenation
The visit to the temple is not for the faint hearted as one needs to walk barefooted for quite a distance before entering the temple complex

well Madam..... very few devotee can reach out the devotion of Lord Jagannath, none other then Lord Krishna himself. A person who can feel the devotion despite all odds can reach him. one who gets distrubs with such small things cannot reach him. In southindian temples you have compulsory tickets in high price as a alternative of what you had commented " prists asking money". Well this material world is like that, though it try your devotion.
