Maa laxmi, the wife of Lord Jagannath is worshipped here in this not so big temple.Like Vimla Temple before Lord Jagannath, darshan of Maa Laxmi is required. Hindu ladies offer chudis/sankha to the devi before wearing or simply offering to maa. It is also believed to sit for some time in front of the verandah of the temple for good result of your darshan.A big verandah for this also is there in front of the temple.

This temple is situated inside the huge premises of Lord Jagannath Temple of Puri just beside the temple of Lord Subhadra and Lord Nimadhaba

Lord Maha Laxmi as she is know here is the Goddess of wealth and prosperity and hence a must visit whenever somebody is visitng Lord Jagannath temple. Entry is through one door and exit through other. Temple has AC now in the inside and there is a queue for entry.
Priests called pandas are unduly rude and coercive,so beware.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside Lord Jagannath temple complex and since this temple is a part of it,here also photography is no no. Do not even try it,as there are CCTVs and security guards. Once they catch you,you can land up in jail or pay a hefty fine,or both si,simultaneously. Respect the custom and integrity of the place

After visiting Lord Jagannath Ji at Puri on the morning of 13th December between 7.00 AM and 8.00 AM, we were taken to Lakshmi Temple by our Panda. He explained in detail about the Puri temple and its importance.

The Lakshmi Temple, devoted to Goddess Lakshmi, is one among the famous temples of Puri. It is situated very close to Lord Jagannath Temple and plays a very important role in the Rath Yathra. It is believed that when the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place, Goddess Lakshmi invites them to this shrine.

If you are in Jagannath Temple, you should definitely go here.
However, you have to be careful. Do not accept any Bangles and Sindoor. Just politely say no otherwise you will have to pay a few hundred rupees for it. Also, once you are inside the garbh grah, dont talk to the priest much and dont tell him you name, gotra, etc. He makes you do Sankalp in Sanskrit -vowing to donate some amount of money - without your knowledge and then insists that you pay.
You dont need any of these people. Calmly go in, and come out.

This temple is inside Jagannath temple - one that many tend to miss, but make sure to visit when you are there in Jagannath temple.
This is a temple for Goddess Lakshmi - the goddess of wealth, and is an integral part of the temple, though in one of the quieter parts. Pay a visit, however beware of the priests.

Goddess Lakshmi who favours us with wealth, health courage, is very benevolent. The shrine is within the Jagannath temple complex. Lakshmi in all her glory awaits your prayers, but may not favour it. The pandas/prohits will attempt to you poorer by their sales talk
