I visited this centre and popular place in Shillong in the evening of 14/02/2020. The place is shopping hub. A lot of shops and malls and shopping complexes is here to shop in. It’s attractive place, especially in the evening because of lights’ shining but it’s crowded place and people who love peace and tranquility wouldn’t feel comfortable here.

Totally skip this part of Shillong. It’s crowded, super busy and chaotic. I fail to understand what’s going on. There are restaurants here though but it was so busy we didn’t feel like eating at any.

From the round about circle of PB streets span in all directions. Down each lane can be found a variety of shops, tailors, restaurants, and local crafts works. It's busy, bustling and a fantastic way to meet a variety of people, and get all you'd need as a tourist. Don't forget to grab a selfie with the giant I (heart) Shillong display on the circle green.
Traffic is busy, taxi services are available, order well maintained by local authorities.

This is the heart of Shillong city but very poorly managed. No parking space and too much crowded. If you are going by self drive then god may only help. Although the street market is good and you can but good woolens from there.

We had heard a lot about the place but it was an absolute put off. A huge crowd and it was like any local market of a big city. We didn't find any good stuff there and was not at all safe.
There was no local stuff which could attract you rather generic stuff.

Crowded market place in Shillong. Lots of shops to buy clothes, handicrafts, daily needs etc.
Good choice of food joints n avg street food. Street food was unhygienic on face value. Did not ate anything on street .
Too much crowded place . Good for one time visit

Police Bazar is the best place to spent your time as a visitor when you are inside the city. Police Bazar is a place where 8 roads from all directions meet the hub. It is a place where the Shillong crowds mostly in the evening and the weekends. The khasi `kong' vendors set their pretty fresh vegetable sales everyday after sunset and you can pick up some fresh local vegetables from there. That area fills up with street food vendors in the evening and you get to enjoy some hot stuff during the cold evenings. Never miss Dilli Mishtan Bhandar for the best sweets and snacks in police bazar. A few steps down the jail road awaits the favorite Suruchi offering the best of Bengali dishes.
Tourists can find at O B Shopping Mall a wide range of collection of Khasi souvenirs as take-aways from Shillong. During spring time PB turns into a nursery, the roadsides filled with beautiful multi-coloured, multi-sized flowers laid for sale by the vendors. The flower plants are too tempting for your balcony and terrace garden.
Police Bazar looks most beautiful during Christmas and New years time when the whole area is decorated with cool LED lighting. There is a open air stage where musical shows are held occasionally. The climate of Shillong makes it very pleasant to stand on the street of Police Bazar and enjoy people watching.
Whenever you are in Shillong, dont miss a chance to spend one afternoon roaming around the streets of Police Bazar.

Visiting and not walking thru' the Police Bazar in Shilong sounds incongrous.Located in the hear of the town,it is the central market place brimming with crowd and shopkeepers and vendors as well.Lot of shops,a few malls, eateries etc occupy the place which is usually crowded.Among other things local handicrafts are sold here offering the visitors to buy souvenier items. And cabs are available from this place to places of attraction in and around the town.People coming to Shillong must visit this busy market place to get a taste of the local flavour.

From Guwahati airport I took a helicopter ride to Shillong. The cost is very reasonable at Rs1500 per person (one way). Tickets are mostly available at the airport a few hours prior to take off. It takes around 20 minutes from Guwahati airport to the Shillong landing place. The view from the helicopter is just amazing. checkout the photos.

where should I book the hotel on the way to shillong from guwahati??
Written 15 December 2017
If you want to enjoy entire area then stay away from crowded city centre somewhere outside towards Peak or thereby. You can always visit the Centre area and go back to your place of stay.

how will be the whether in last third of December?? n should I prebook the hotel or after reaching there because it's Christmas time??
Written 15 December 2017
Booking accommodation prior to arriving at the destination, irrespective of the season, is the most sensible thing to do - peace of mind and better online rates. As for staying in the Police Bazar area - it may be convenient for getting a private transport and to nip into shops, but the place has high vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow, is congested and not clean, and in general not a place to relax when on holiday. The Cleve area seems to be the best in Shillong.
