This is the Worst market I've ever seen with worst shopkeepers sitting. Its dirty as hell, people are rude and manner less - they spit almost on your feet shamelessly, and don't even apologise, the porters push you with their dirty bags without any apology ...all in all the worst place to buy anything. Its not worth going at all.... More

Had gone there to buy some local fruits but its extremely crowded. Not a very pleasant place to go. Rain added topping on the cake making it muddy all over.

I have been to many markets throughout Asia but nothing compares to this. It is huge, a rabbit warren of alley ways, up and down, crossing over. We wandered around for over 2 hours. We got there early around 830am as the vendors were setting up. We saw the pigs being delivered and being prepared for dissecting for sale. It... More

Probably interesting for foreigners. Looked like any other Indian bazaar except for the up and down topography. Not very clean. Lots of small eateries but not for vegetarians.

This place is not for the folks who are claustrophobic. This is the central vegetable/meat market of Shillong and very very very crowded. The walking lanes are narrow enough for only one person, but you will have 1000's traversing these paths simultaneously. Be sure to keep your wallets and valuables safe as you never know when they can fall. All... More
