My experience was with this place was not good. Our driver took us to this place on Sunday where everything was shut and no direction as what to do. We were left stranded as why we are here and what needs to be done.
We made a quick escape from this place after clicking few photographs to mark this place in our checklist.
Would not recommend as there is nothing much to do until you want to go inside to offer prayer or want to enjoy the architecture.

The Cathedral of Mary was visited by me and my friends. We found utmost cleanliness and silence at the vicinity. We came to know that it was built around 1830. The crafts of wood were there in the main area of the Cathedral and it was astonishing to see that many events of the life of Jesus were presented by these crafts.

The architecture is fabulous. At the entrance of the Church, it will be difficult to comprehend the size of it. The moment reaching the first floor will be a shock to many of us. It is massive! Definitely worth visiting! Tip: Visit close to sunset.

Its the best Cathedral I have seen in India. Its beautiful and picture perfect and worth a visit. Its color makes it distinct and attractive. Picturesque and quaint cathedral in the North East part of India.

A trip to Shillong is incomplete without visiting this magnificent church. The compound is beautifully maintained and the cathedral hall contains paintings and carvings.

Extremely well built by the British India - Superb architecture. Works of coloured glasses inside the church is mind blowing and so do the atmosphere. Brilliant maintenance and one thing you will remember for life is the Chandelier!! Must Visit!!!

If you visit Shillong, no matter which religion you are from, you should visit it. All can access inside but no photography inside. You need to keep silence also. Outside you can take photos. There is a school adjacent to the church. Feels heavenly when children runs. Must visit.

Please pay a visit to the Cathedral if you are in Shillong. The compound, the structure, the decorations, the paintings of the Cathedral leave a lasting impression on everyone who has been there.
It stands on the place of the first Church built by the German Fathers ( Salvatorians from Germany). It was a wooden structure and was destroyed by fire. The construction of the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians began on the same site on 25 October, 1936. A unique feature of the Cathedral building is that it stands on sand. As Shillong is prone to earthquakes, sand provides elasticity.
Serene, peaceful place worth a visit!!!
