Camping at d Umngot riverside at dawki with pioneer adventure group tops my list f best travel experiences ever. Right from the picturesque camp location to spacious comfy tents, wholesome tasty meals, clean bathrooms, unending adventurous indulgence, competent n friendly hosts fully committed to our safety n comfort, Pioneer adventure dawki has it all! Stunning clear water surrounded by gigantic cliffs n lush greens made it all enchanting. We enjoyed kayaking, snorkelling, ziplining, cliff jumping n much more. Beach bonfire on a full moon night with music n yummy dinner (freshly roasted fish straight from d river:)) and d fun conversations with our lovely hosts.... Nothing less than an exhilarating moment fr us. Next morning kids were more than happy kayaking all by themselves. I immersed myself into d pristine riverwater, swam all d way across it, jumped off d cliff(didn't bother to keep a count f it). What makes Pioneer adventure group unique is d extremely supportive n professional attitude f Jason n his team. U guys r amazing! Special mention here... Jason took us fr an early morning uphill forest trek to a deep pool amidst rocks, incredible is too mild an adjective fr that beauty. Thankyou so much Pioneer adventure group fr this one f a kind lifetime experience at Dawki fr us. As u said "Save the best fr d last", dawki camping has become favorite part f my northeast trip. I will definitely revisit ur place fr scuba diving and a plunge into d deep green pool u took us to on 10th morning. Highly recommend it to everyone who visits Meghalaya.…

A perfect place to visit during October when I visited basically. Only good vibes, we didn't get any rain. Treat to the eyes and time flies.

As they say, "Save the best for the last", and so we did! Shnongpdeng, generally not on a tourists' list, well, i'd say, better be a traveller!. One of the off beat locations in Meghalaya, not too crowded like Dawki, infact all the more beautiful with stunning clear waters, along with add on adventure activities to satiate your adrenaline rush. A perfect place in a picturesque location sums up the wonderful stay. And we'd aptly placed it at the fag end of our trip! Warm and welcoming, Jason, the co-founder of Pioneer Adventure Tour, was always helpful with my bookings and suggesting places to finalise my itinerary before our visit. Although he wasn't available on site during our stay, Adrian more than made up for his absence. Again a very friendly guy, who saw to our comfort at every level be it food, stay or activities. Thanks for all the support, both you guys are simply amazing. Extremely calm and patient, I can't thank Adrian enough for making my first ever scuba experience the most memorable ever. This is the only place in India which offers Fresh Water (River) Scuba with PADI certified instructors (my friends wouldn't have allowed me down otherwise!), and it was worth every second. Although there isn't much to see underwater, save the river bed, with an occasional school of fishes, its an experience to remember nevertheless. Kindly send my regards to John, the big blue fish;*. Apart from this, snorkelling, cliff jumping, zipline, kayaking (our kids enjoyed having the kayaks to themselves), everything was fun, and the campfire the previous night under the starry sky, was mesmerising as ever. Now about the place, well, I am literally short of adjectives to describe such a beautiful campsite. Hailing from Mumbai, I've been camping regularly to a lot many places, but the location here stands amongst the rest, unparalleled to say the least. Bright and clean, double layered spacious tents with enough insulation to keep you warm inside when the temperatures drop during winters. The joy of camping on a river bed with crystal clear water surpassed all our expectations, add on the scenic views and close to zero commercialisation. "Cleanliness is next to godliness", a phrase we've grown up learning at school, but never seen implementing it in our daily life. A strong rooted culture, belief that cleanliness is the first step towards the path to god, are the only prerequisites to ensure the whole state follows it religiously without the need for enforcing a political movement like Swachch Bharat campaign. At the campsite, i saw the same enthusiasm to ensure utmost cleanliness as was the case with almost all other places we visited, (fyi, we did not visit Mawlynnong) Cute little cane baskets for bins which are never an eyesore could be seen everywhere. It helps! Something i take away from Meghalaya, and will stay with me for ever and ever!!! Thank you once again Jason and Adrian for everything, it was indeed a pleasure to have visited your campsite, and will definitely want to keep visiting again and again. Highly recommend!…

My girlfriend and I booked the kayaking and abseiling in Dawki. Jason, our tour guide, picked us up from Mawlynnong early morning and was very friendly and chatty as we drove towards our destination. Once we arrived, we were stunned by the amazing scenery of a huge, slow running river with mountains and forest on each side. We took a small motorized wooden boat up along the river till we got to a spot with big rocks and some sand. We enjoyed some food and tea bought from a local woman using her boat as a floating shop. This spot was our base camp for the day and we truly enjoyed the abseiling. We could go up and down as many times as we wanted, but I being scared of heights, 1 time was enough for me. We also spent time relaxing, licking sun, cliff jumping and swimming in the river. To top it all off, as we were heading back down the river in kayaks, it started to rain a little bit. Not enough to get wet, but just enough to see an amazing rainbow from one side of the river to the other. On our way back to Shillong we got to see an amazing sunset. This was hence down one of the most memorable days we had in our 4 weeks journey around India. A big thanks to Jason who was such a friendly and knowledgeable guide. We want to do more exploring with Pioneer Adventure Tour next time we go to Shillong .…
