It was a beautiful view, so peaceful. I was at the same level to clouds! I had never seen clouds so naturally just lying around me. Even if I add a picture here, it won't be a justice. Although it's a beautiful view, but that's just it. Nothing to feel. You can try wearing the traditional Khasi outfit and get a picture clicked from the local shops. The shops that sells items are way too expensive and sell anything at random and say its a local produce hence the money etc. But yeah, a clean place overall. And yes, since it is an Indian air force operated place you cannot take your vehicles inside the campus, you need to take a local car outside the gates that takes Rs 200 for a 5-6 mins ride.

At the height of about 1970 m above sea level, Shillong Peak is the highest point in Shillong. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city, the Himalayas, its waterfalls as well as Bangladesh plains. A telescope is available for tourists to get a bird's eye view.
Trekking up to this semi-circular Shillong Peak is highly recommended , where you can relish some magnificent views of the entire city of Shillong .

The peak is also believed to be the abode of the deity that protects the city. The experience of being here is truly refreshing which makes it bag a spot among the most exciting places to visit in Shillong.

A birds eye view of Shillong city can be seen from the Peak. Standing at an elevation of about 4900 feet, this spot is worth visiting in Shillong. Under the control of Indian Defense, we need to register ourselves at the entrance and deposit our ID before entering the site. A must visit spot while in Shillong

Shillong Peak is located around 10 km from the Shillong city at an altitude of 1965 m above sea level is the highest peak there. One can get a panoramic scenic view of the city from the peak. This point is included in the sightseeing of the Shillong city. The road to the point is very smooth and you need to cross the Air Force Museum at Upper Shillong to reach there. There are vendors selling snacks and beverages, you can have some and leave for your next destination.

Laitkor Peak also known as Shillong Peak has Air Force station within its limits.
It is the highest point in Shillong and you can view the city from above.
Incase it is foggy one cannot see anything but if it is clear its a wonderful sight.
Tea stalls are available and the locals also sell some of the traditional items.
Book a taxi as you will not get transport to take you back to town.

The deck that gives the city view, at the entry point of the Air Force station on Laitkor peak is not the real Shillong peak. That lies further up. There are a few boulders in a small thicket of small pine trees ( Pinus Khasia) on this peak that is about one or two hundred meters still above the city view, by the side of multi storeyed quarters. One of the grey white stones served as the altar of the ancient tribal rituals. That is Ley Shillong. That is how it was till the early eighties till the tourism department created the city view and now that part is known as the Peak. No one sold anything there, no one received anyone there, It was only you and the pristine parts of nature, so much that you felt amid the fog and mist that you were the part of the vast eternity that lay unspoken or unseen by the ignorance of the unhappy world.

A place of scenic beauty with the whole of Shillong city beneath you. Sometimes if the weather is cloudy it is full of clouds, as if you are surrounded by fog. If it is clear you can view almost whole of shillong city. Its a prohibited place and a defence establishment. You need to be intact with your Id's etc. Good place to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty. Enjoy the delicious Pineapple slices and local fruits over there. Ideal place for photo shooting. A watch tower there enables to have a more visualization down there.
