Sunset point has to be our favourite point in Matheran. The view from here is beautiful. As compared to the other points in Matheran, Sunset point has peace

- Great refreshing walk through the woods
- Great view
- Lots of space to accommodate a large number of people
- Snacks and cold drinks available at venue
- Beware of the monkeys (they are real quick and can grab and run away with any food that you carry)

The Sunset Point is just around the corner where we stayed at 'The Verandah', which for the rest of Mathern becomes the farthest point of sight seeing and its worth the trek I can assure.
A beautiful setting sun amidst ranges of mountain peak and dwindling light makes a twilight wonder for the eyes.
Matheran is known for its various points and this one lies way up the priority list.

As name suggest, this place offers nice view of Sunset. The place is very crowded hence make sure to visit on time and occupy place where you can enjoi setting of the sun along with capturing nice pictures. The walk towards market is nice and there are many vendor offering food which you can buy on your way back to market

The view from this lookout point was awe inspiring - majestic mountains with deep ravines all clad in different hues of green, gold, brown, and gray. We enjoyed walking in the peaceful quiet of the forest to reach this spot. We did not wait till after sunset because once the sun sets darkness falls quickly and we had a long walk back to our hotel.

The sunset is breath taking at this point. This place has two points, one is the sunset point and the other is the porcupine point. From porcupine point you get 360 degree view of the valley. Monkeys are a menace everywhere in Matheran, they snatch anything that resembles food or drinks and they are really quick. They may attack you for the food. It is advisable not to carry any food, rather carry a stick to drive away monkeys.

In rainy season you will not see any sunset as cloud around. Good point to visit in rainy season also. Crowdy in evening.

I've been to most places in Matheran more than a dozen times, but this place really lights up in the evenings. Can get really crowded during and post sunset when majority of the tourists prefer spending there evenings here.
Buts its still worth it. Leave right before sunset (like you leave right before the movie ends) to avoid the rush. Worth a go!

Beautiful Sunset View....more amazing was the horse riding experience through the green woods. Beware of Monkeys here though. Carrying food items are a no.

How can we reach here from Louisa point and how much time will it take??
Written 11 August 2017
Search for MATHERAN MAPS on google.
Map for all the points to see at Matheran is available on google. You can check Louisa point & Porcupine point in the map.
You can take a horse ride from 1 point to another.
Horse ride is available in Matheran to cover various points according to your choices.
We have taken ride starting from King George point, then Edward Point, Echo Point, Honeymoon point, Louisa point & ended at Porcupine point.
We wanted to enjoy the walk between the woods from porcupine point to market area, so we covered that by walk.
If you have problem in walking or you are not fond of walking, don't prefer, it took around an hour to cover the distance from porcupine point to market due to sloping road.
Still if you have any doubt, feel free to ask me

We walked all the way to the sunset point, so it took us almost an hour to reach. So you can leave by 4:00 to reach there if you walk. If you take a horse ride you will reach earlier. Hope I answered your question :)
