Okay, I love to see natural beauty and believe me, the view from the top of the peak was worth every calorie and every drop of sweat. Although great views can be seen from halfway to the peak but one should climb a mountain once in a while I guess :p Try to carry as less as possible. Just a napkin and some money for lemonade(believe me you will need some glasses of that) would suffice. Tip: don't loose hope halfway

Weak limbed should avoid it. Its 11 km away from the bus stand area and then starts the actual trekking. There is no point in trekking those 11 km as its pitched road. So once u reach the foothill wc h has another 2 attractions "mahadev' and "gupt mahadev" u can start your journey to the hilltop. you should take a waterbottle , water and lemonade is available midway too so its not so bad. The whole trip takes around 3.5 to 5 hours so plan accordingly so you can return before sunset. wear light and comfortable shoes . once the top is reached after breathtaking views you can have a great view atop the hill of the temple and panchmarhi forest range. the adventure is in going up , as atop there is a small temple with the only attraction being a collection of tridents.
Quick checks--- money for lemonade/ bottle for water/ light shoes / early start so u can return before sunset

Very enjoyable trek with beautiful scenery all around. After travelling by vehicle for about 8 kilo meters, one reaches the parking area and from here the 3 and a half kilo meter trek starts. It is a rough road passing through the jungle which is green throughout the year and mostly has Sal trees. After some climbing we reach the Gupt Mahadev. From here one has a rough road with many ups and downs. Constantly watch your step or you may slip or injure your knees.
On every turn you are greeted with beautiful views and huge Satpura hills covered with green forest. The constantly changing scenes do not let you tired and at regular intervals you have stalls selling bottled water, sharbat, biscuits, fruits, food items etc. But beware of the quick and at times aggressive monkeys.
The last two climbs are quite steep and said to have 1365 high steps. It is a challenging climb and it needs good physical and mental fitness to complete the trek. At the end you meet with a temple of lord Choudeshwar, a shiv temple and a small Ganesh temple. Nearby a you see a stack of Trishuls brought by devotees.
Chouragad a high single peak with an excellent view all around. An average person typically takes 2 hours to climb up, spends 15 minutes at the top and needs one hour to climb down.
If you spend some time at the shops then you may require more time.

It is said that Lord Shiva left his trident after death of Sati at this place. Devotee offer trident to please god and heard that fulfill their wishes. Tridents are in size from 150 gms to 4 tons and from 6 inch to 12 feet.
You can reach up to Mahadev temple by car and than your trekking starts. It is 3.5 KM stiff trekking with 1000+ steps carving in stone. Trekking is in the jungle and it is a once in life time experience. Normally; a healthy person can return within 4-5 hours after reaching peak of the mountain. Keep your self light and just carry water along with you with some glucose or chocolates. If you manage to return within 3 hours; you are best with your health.
Trident are countless at top. It is difficult to describe in words the feeling; once you reach at the temple.
Idol of Lord Shiva is beautiful and peace offering.
Must visit place in Pachmarhi.
Har Har Mahadev.

Chaoragarh is very good place and a peak from where you get a very beautiful view and the temple is very good. There is thousands of trishuls and one can see them how people carry with them and put there. But for all this you have to walk a lot and climb around 1600 stares. but its good.

after a long toll and trekking we reached chauragad peak. mind you it is very difficult terrain to climb and that to with your kid of 1.5 years is back breaking. but still the ambience and the surroundings are so nice that on reaching the top we all forget our hardships. the mighty trishuls make the peak ornamented. you could see all the peaks of pachmarhi from here. must must must must watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chauragarh is a Scenic peak in pachmarhi. It takes a 2.5 hours to reach this place by foot with many big steps to climb. This a moderate level trek. There are lots of monkeys arount, so don't keep the food items in hands, monkeys normally tend to snatch the items from you like bag, purse & food items. The Temple is still under construction during our recent visit to the shiv temple.

Need to know where to visit. Is gypsy necessary or forest entry fees
Written 31 January 2019
It will be better if you hire a gypsy. The hotel persons usually help tourist in this manner. Or you May talk directly to the gypsy drivers. They have packages for various points. Negotiate the price and move around. Our experience with gypsy drivers is good.

Written 25 February 2018
It will take 2.5 to 3 hrs depending upon your speed. Taking baby is no risk. Please do not take any eatable in your hand or coming out of your bag, since monkey get attracted to the food. If you dont trouble them, then they will not trouble you. Guides can be hired with the assistance of your gypsy driver.
