Even though I do not belong to Jain community, I went here with friends and decided to climb 100's of stairs. It was a good experience to see the panoramic view of the town and farm lands. I was also amazed to see the 58ft statue carved out of a single stone.

Too sunny and tiring, plan only late evenings. Kids would enjoy the place. Not recommended if you are visiting along with elderly person.

Shravanabelagola - A small town. Bahubali Statue - Its over the hill, need to climb the carved steps on the plain rock. No sandals/shoes allowed, can wear socks, and they are selling socks(20 rs) at the entrance if you want. Inside the temple the huge statue is there and its looking like they finished the carving yesterday night. Many other... More

A good climb on the hill to test your physical condition added with a pilgrimage taste. The steps are not too steep and kids need attention. The view of the standing tirthas after the climb is amazing.

Well carved statue. Ancient one. Nice to visit with friends/family. But beware that we have to climb a hill for a while. It takes around 20 to 30 mins for climbing. Visit early in the mornings as there won't be any problem while climbing. After watching BAHUBALI movie we visited thiis temple in Shravanbelagola.

We see the statue of Bahubali which is almost 57-foot in height and carved from a single piece of rock situated above a hill. It was built before almost 1000 years and is one of the largest free-standing statues in the world. Bahubali, was the son of Rishabhanatha, and is revered as a liberated soul (Siddha) by the Jains. Jain temple with enormous naked statue on top of a single rock tall hill. Most of the crowd treats this place as tourist place but jain community treats this as sacred temple. There is not enough parking location because of huge crowd throughout the year. It can be covered with in a day from Bangalore. Roads leading from Bangalore to... More
