Lovely climb to a spectacular temple. The statue of Bahubali is carved out of the mountaintop. It is remarkably peaceful and serene

Went to Visit on recommendations of a friend. Reluctantly started the climb. The faith of faithful’s kept us going. The lord by himself is magnificence personified. It was worth every step.
There was another family which started the climb with us - totally unknown strangers. It was due to their consistent talking and motivating we finished the climb.

So a post dedicated to totally unknown fellow traveller/s.

The statue was huge and eye catching. It has been changed from what it was earlier. People have to climb atleast for 30-45 minutes - some places there are steep steps. Not ideal for old aged people, physically challenging people.
Every one need to ensure to bring some gears like caps/ hats, umbrella, socks while climbing the steps - it would be very hot and difficult to climb up bare footed.
Up near the statue - There is no sufficient supply of drinking water - better to carry your own water bottles. There is no facility of toilet/ wash rooms - better to finish it at the foot of the hill. There is no facility any food store and shop and so ensure to carry it from down. People without masks were not allowed inside and there was no facility of sanitizers and all.
View of the statue is amazing, view from top of the hill just serene and peaceful.

This is an amazing experience, to climb the Vindhyagiri hill and worship Bhagwan Bahubali. The hill is a bit of a steep climb, but doli is available for old aged people.

There are a few Jain basadi temples apart from the main Bhagwan Bahubali Gommateshwara temple. They are dedicated to a number of Jain Tirthankars such as Adinath, Neminath, Shantinath.

Once in 11 years the big abhisheka puja of Lord bahubali happens

The views from the top are quite beautiful.

One should be a little careful climbing the hill in rains time, rocks can be slippery.

In Covid time, parikrama is not possible but darshan is allowed

I recommend to watch Praveen Mohan's video on youtube about this place before you visist. The staue is a wonder. Top of the hill gives you a wonderfull view of surrounding villages. Dont forget to visit the hill(chandragiri) opposite this hill(indragiri). If you plan both hills, onday is needed otherwise half a day is sufficient.
Summer is not the best season to visit as you have to climb the hill barefoot. Ofcourse steps are of rock.
Take your children here, they would love it. My 3 years old daughter climbed first and left everyone behind!!!!
visited in september 2016.

615 steps to reach on hillock. Better to start in morning early, else stone steps become hot and you are supposed to your shoes off before start uphill.
