If you want to experience fresh snow, untouched by others, don't go to Solang, Visit Hamta Pass. It has breathtaking view of snow capped mountains and fresh snow to play around with. And most importantly, very few people visit this place. So you can have a zone for yourself. We stayed the entire day there.

A good half day trip from Manali. You need to take permit from SDM office in Mall road , only after that you can go to Hamta pass . A very scenic place close to Manali. You can enjoy waterfalls and treks. Actual Hamta pass is far off and difficult to reach but one can take small treks as per one’s convenience . Enroute is a hydro power project. Also it is a popular camping site and adventurous people do overnight camping enroute to Hamta pass. There are lush green meadows all around and it is less crowded place. Nature lovers will definitely enjoy it

Is Hampta Pass only for trekking? Or is there a point we can easily visit during first week of December, to catch some breathe taking mountain views and spend some time?

Because we have to cancel our Kashmir trip we have now changed to do Hampta pass instead from 9th September and we will be taking a coach from Delhi to Manali. Our biggest worry is the Monsoon that is very bad now. Can anyone enlighten us on the condition & whether is it advisable for us to go ahead?

It totally depends upon conditions, usually the roads and mountains are bad till sep as rains keep happening, my advice is second half of October is most favourable
