- Natalie SLondon, United Kingdom38 contributionsAmazing experience in GNHP with Himalayan EcotourismWe had an amazing time in the Great Himalyan National Park with Himalayan Ecotourism. I cannot recommend this organisation highly enough. From start to finish everyone involved took kind, gentle and efficient care of us. Planning our itinerary to best suit our needs and desires was carefully considered and put in place, with transfers and little stops and tours added in where we wouldn’t have considered it. The highlight of our trip was the Marahni trek which we did in 4 days and 3 nights. Our guide, Keisha, was wonderful and the rest of the team looked after us with kindness and care. The equipment and food was all superb. We had such a glorious time in the mountains looking at views, watching vultures soar, trying to identify plants and enjoying watching the animals. The area is so beautiful it felt like an honour to be there. We stayed in the Eagles Nest homestay after our trek which is in a fabulous setting: trees and wildlife in abundance with nearby trails and others a short car ride away. Again, the food, made by Bindu, was delicious and the hosting by Gaurav was exceptional. We felt very welcome and relaxed. We long to return. Thank you for a truly wonderful trip we will never forget.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 October 2023
- Discover573950070555 contributionsAmazing experience in the middle of the natureExcellent experience in the middle of the nature. We went for one night camping. All the arrangements were made by Panki ji of Sunshine Himalayan Cottage. Started our trek from Tirthan valley. It was an easy but beautiful 5 km trek till the GHNP gate. In the entire trek route we could watch countless birds, with the Tirthan river flowing along us throughout the route. We had our camping at Rolla campsite. The trek team was extraordinarily helpful and cooperative. The food they served up there is beyond description. It was an amazing experience. I would like to go for the longer trek inside GHNP again.Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 11 April 2024
- Maps453206083401 contributionLovely stay and fantastic hike in Tirthan valleyWe recently booked the 2-day Ranghar trek for two people, including transport to and from Tirthans Eagle Nest Homestay, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. The family at Eagle Nest took care of us wonderfully, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The food during the trek, especially at the campsite, was fantastic and truly exceeded our expectations. Eagle Nest itself is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings. On a next visit we will definitely take a longer trek to fully explore the beauty of the park. Highly recommended!Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 17 June 2024

The trek to Shilt Hut was an unimaginable experience though it was a little difficult trek for beginners like us. We started from Gushaini along the beautiful Tirthan river at 10 in the morning and reached Rolla, a riverside campsite by evening.
The warm hospitality of Tek Singh ji and his team touched us, we never thought that we would be presented with such good lunch & dinner. We still remember the way all of us danced around the bonfire, it was a well spent night.
The next day we started for Shilt Hut, it was too steep for me but then I managed. We even spotted some of the endangered species of birds like the Jhujhuraana on our way to Shilt. Once you reach the Shilt meadow, its a sight to remember! Beautiful densely forested mountains and peaks catch your eye.
It was altogether an experience to remember to go on this trek with Tek Singh ji.
A very humble and talented person he is. The moment you reach the place and meet him, you feel completely at home.
GHNP has untouched, untamed & pure natural beauty that one can ever see. A must visit! One should not miss an opportunity to visit this place.

The great himalyan national park is located closer on the way to Tirthan valley and is a quiet rejuvenating park with a nominal fee. It's appointed as a world heritage site by UNESCO. There is a proper trail through the park that is surrounded by different varieties of flora and fauna though no visible species of birds or animals were to be found.
This place is calming on the senses as on one side river Beas flows through its periphery while tall steep mountains nestle it on the other side. However the restaurant situated inside was closed the day we visited and also there was no running water in the restrooms which can be quite a bother for tourists visiting from outside and being a heritage site, i definitely expect it to maintain a better standard.
However if you want to chill and rest away from the hustling noise of the cities, this sure is a place to visit especially if you are out wandering in Tirthan valley.

I get extremely happy when I see a brand/company going that extra mile for a customer. After a while, I experienced that again. A few days back, I went for Chalocha Trek with "Trek with Tek".
Right from the time of co-ordinating with Eknath till being in The Great Himalayan National Park with Tek Ji, I understood how much they care about the customers. At every point I felt they had given their all in making sure each person gets the best experience.
I loved every aspect of our trip. Be it them going beyond customer expectation and focusing on customer delight with our tents decorated with fairy lights, be it their initiative towards sustainable and responsible tourism with their bamboo kit, be it their sensitivity towards nature, or their kindness towards all living beings. I am absolutely delighted with my entire experience and can't wait to experience it all over again.

Treks are liberating. Nature is the best healer. We wanted to experience this joy from quite sometime. Owing to covid, the plan got postponed multiple times but we are glad to have finally hiked for the first time with sunshine adventures. We were looking forward to experience wilderness out of our comfort zones, and nature in its raw rugged form. Sunshine made this come true. These guys are pioneers!! Panki ji and Ankit ji have thorough knowledge of the area and deep love for the land. The sustainable and ecofriendly model of tourism employed by them is highly commendable. Their backbone is comprised entirely of local people. The guides, porters, cooks are all local lads. They are know the terrain very well, physically fit and are trained further by sunshine team. They do a marvellous job with guiding through the trek. Me, my husband and my 8 year old son trekked comfortably upto Rolla camp. This is in the Great Himalayan National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. 3 boys accompanied us during the trek. GHNP is a nature lovers paradise. Glad that it has escaped from the clutches of urbanisation and is a safe abode for the native flora and fauna. The stay at campsite was extremely comfortable. The campsite was just beautiful, pristine views till wherever your eyes can reach, the crystal clear river and an untouched atmosphere. Far away from the hustle bustle of daily life. Added to that, service by the sunshine team was an icing on the cake. They provided us with comfortable high quality tents, sleeping bags, hot fresh food, tea, snacks.. what more can you ask for! It was no less than a five star facility at a remote corner of the valley. Kudos to the team. We never faced any difficulty and felt safe always. We are sure to go back to them, as there is so much beauty all around. With experienced sunshine team, it is sure to happen. Feel safe and plan your treks with team sunshine!

We just did the shilt hut trek with himalayan ecotourism a few weeks ago. The entire team was very accommodating and helpful right from the start. We had opted for their in house gear and I would highly recommend it as the tents and sleeping bags kept us warm and comfortable. The 2 nights of camping, the beautiful locations, the bonfires, the delicious food, the helpful guide and porters all these factors made this a very memorable trip. The trail o the shilt hut was very very steep and covered with overgrowth which did make it more challenging so we couldnt make it to the hut. Will surely reattempt it again

I have been visiting Himalayas regularly for years now but the recent experience was different altogether in terms of comfort, exploration, adventure, food, hospitality and anything I could think of because this time I chose someone professional enough to understand the requirement and deliver the best. Yes, this time I chose "Himalayan Ecotourism".
Delicious food, perfect guide (Tara Chand), best host (Hema ji) with a blend of pristine beauty of nature, the experience was special and can't be explained by words as one has to live it to feel it. We went on a trek to Rolla (a small riverside camp in the GNHP) with the bonfire lasting almost all night paired with the unexpected hospitality in the forest and soothing rhyme of the river flowing by our side made it a perfect night to lay down gazing at the countless stars shining like diamonds in the sky.
All this was possible as we connected with Hemaji and Stephan and they ensured that we could have a lifetime experience at a minimal impact on our pockets.
I suggest a must go and connect with Himalayan Ecotourism for perfect guidance and stay.

I went on a 3 day trek with my friends to a unique riverside place called Chalocha in GHNP. We camped at Rolla on the first night, then moved to Chalocha on the 2nd. Its a beautiful journey along the Tirthan river. I strongly recommend visiting GHNP and ditching other commercial tourist destinations. This is where you will find peace away from the hustle. We got deeply rejuvenated. Our guide Tek Singh who is a really kind person, answered every random question throughout the trek informing us about different birds and trees we saw. The whole TrekwithTek team took really good care of us.

The national park has a small walking area for visitors not entering the national park. Its is very well made with statues of all animals in the national park and well labeled trees. A nice place to spend about 1-2 hours.

The 4 days trek to Rakhundi top with Himalayan Ecotourism was amazing with a caring staff (special thanks to our guide Sanju and all his team), very helpful, trustworthy and always smiling. The equipment is excellent and the food incredible.
In addition, Himalayan ecotourism takes care a lot of the trekking staff working condition.
It was our 1st trek with 2 kids of 8 and 9 and it has been a wonderful overall experience, unforgettable for the entire family.

Written 17 January 2019
There are homestay available before the trek to GHNP. There isn't anything inside the actual park, however you are allowed to camp inside with prior permission. A lot of homestay and hotels are available at Ghushaini village, from where the route to GHNP starts.

is it safe to be there with kids?
can we see some animals around?
Written 28 February 2018
Yes it's absolutely recommended to bring kids along and make them witness the richness of GHNP. There are no dangerous animals that may harm us unless we decide to get harmed. Wildlife can only be witnessed when you go deep inside the GHNP for atleast 3 or more days. Tirthan Valley is a good option if you are a wildlife lover, treks to Nada Thach, Kobri Top, Kholi Poi, Rakhundi Top, Shankha Thach, Tirath are good ones for wildlife lovers and bird watchers.
