I travelled end of May and was expecting to see some snow but was in for a deligful surpsie as it was snowing when I reached. The route is treacherous and quite taxing for a day trip from Dalhousie. I would recommend making it a 1.5 days trip by taking a stop over at one of the hotels enroute ( I noticed Sach pass hotel on way) and coming back next day

A childhood dream came through as I had done my schooling in the same Distt and often heard about it. Got a chance in Sep 21 and managed a quick trip to Sach pass from Dalhousie. Breathtaking views and serene atmosphere added to the great road trip. We managed to reach just before the final light and came back in pitch dark. unfortunately at this time of the year no snow but hope to get back again to live the real adventure in snow

This pass is truly breathtaking in its beauty. This adventure is worth the effort. There are many waterfalls along this route, as well as extremely dangerous roads. The pass is open during the summer months. There's also a small temple at the summit.

Snow-clad mountain peaks offering virgin natural beauty. Tourist inflow is less as the place is yet to be popular. Makeshift dhaba/tent near the Sach Pass offers delicious food.

Sach Pass also known as the death road or most dangerous road to drive on. It's a bucket of of every road tripper who loves to drive on himalayas and live the life. It opens up up in June end and connects Killar and kishtwar. One should must try this in his or her life once. When you reach on top of it you feels like you are in heaven. One of the best place i have ever visited in my whole life. It's worth all the efforts you put in to reach there.

First things first, it takes around 6 hours to reach Sach pass from Dalhousie.
The last 30-35 kms road stretch from Bairagarh to Sach pass is a poorly developed road which would take close to 2 hours of travel and also it takes an elevation of 2000+ metres.
Some faint hearted people or first time mountain travelers can get a bit worried.

But yes, the views are worth all this effort.

A word of caution for people wanting to experience snow: September is NOT a proper time for it. Snow was very sparse.

Also, this pass gets closed by September end and according to me the best time to visit this pass is May-June-July after it opens for the year.
August should also have decent snow.

Prepare to have a light headache in the thin air at 4500 metres.
All the very best!
