TO reach this property you need to go via Boat. Excellent location. However there is nothing much to do. So good for 1 night stay and you will be able to enjoy the sunrise sunset and beautiful location.

Avoid if you can.
No one would like to boat in dirty water. It smells so bad. When we visited , these people started cancellation of existing booking due to less bookings.

I would like to say that this place is good only if you want to go for boating and there is no other thing to do and relax. Lake is huge but the water was not clean. Boating charges are very high. Speed boat is recommended. Few small eating stalls available near the boating point. Try and visit Bhalei Mata Temple nearby.

There is nothing much to offer. The boating is too expensive. The lake is also man-made and is a bit over rated in terms of scenic beauty.

We visited the lake on the last day after checking out of the hotel.... The lake is situated 84 kms from our Hotel ... It took us roughly 2 hours drive to reach there . it is considered to be one of the main tourist spots to visit near Dalhousie . The drive was great and you have got good boating options there ....We went for 8 minute speed boat right and was a enjoyable experience... I would suggest to visit this place early morning or late evening which will add on to your experience. The lake is 750 feet deep however the view was quite good .....Overall it was nice experience

Totally worthless to visit. The road is a mountain road from Dharamshala and pretty treacherous. The lake was dirty and the boating service too was not good.
Overall not worh wasting your time.

The lake is almost an hour away from Dalhousie. I really enjoyed the ride from the hotel to Chamera lake. The lake is located near a dam. Green water, scenic beauty and amazing experience of speed boat ride. Its a bit expensive but it was worth every rupee spent. My 3 year old daughter enjoyed the speed boat ride. Its was a fun ride for the family. Its a must visit site for tourists.

Beautiful well maintained Dam/Lake with beautiful boating. Drive to the dam was great, roads are bad in certain stretches. Apart from boating no other activity to do. Quick trip from Dalhousie !

Fresh and calm water. Greenish water make your eyes super soothing. Try for motor boat safe for kids and longer time 30 minutes. Cost is just 400/- for Adults.

Where is a good vantage point to take a photo of the lake ?
I do not intend to go down to the lakeside, just a photoshot will suffice for me.
Also, is there a reliable website to check on the weather forecast ?
Do not want to drive all the way there from Dalhousie only to find the mountains all covered in mist etc.
Thanks.

Just few kms before the lake you get a beautiful view of the lake as far as weather report is concerned Dalhousie weather is what you can check temperature here would be higher as it is at a lower height
I would recommend if you make an effort of going to the view point and get a clear view why not go to the lake it is a memorable experience

Will the sun overhead be too hot in a June afternoon? Till what time is boating allowed? What will be the weather like in general in Chamba during early June?

It would be cloudy with thunderstorm and rain. Temperature would be around 25 to 30 degrees in day and 10 to 15 degrees in night.

I will visit Amritsar and then enter Himachal Pradesh and visit Dalhousie,Khajjiar, Dharmashala,Palampur,Khangra and then catch the return train from PATHANKOT in October 18.I wish to hire a car on per day basis for the whole journey. What can be the cost per day for a SUV and whether it will be less costly if I hire the car from Himachal than hiring it from Amritsar in Panjab?

I could'nt say how much, i think i can give you an idea. We recently travelled from Hoshiarpur(3 hrs drive from Amritsar) to Dharamshala, Mcleodganj, Khajjar and Dalhousie in an Innova (total 5 persons) over 3 days, it costs us around 8500 for only cab and driver. Rest toll and other charges were ours. We provided the driver an additional 900/- total for 3 days for snacks and all.
