Navagraha Temple is built on a small hilltop. There are not many temples dedicated to solar system in India and it is one of its kind in entire north east . The soothing calmness of the area around temple makes on feel the sense of spirituality. Built in ancient era , this temple is must visit place when you are in Guwahati.

The Navagraha temple is situated at the Navagraha Hills in Guwahati. The journey to the hill is a nice experience. One can offer special Puja to the Graha / Grahas. Services for preparation of Janam Kundlai is also available

I visited this temple once last year. The navagraha temple is basically the concept of worshipping the 9 planetary lords. Nava meaning nine while graha means house. The house of nine lords consisting of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Neptune, etc. It bears great importance to Hindus who consider this an important ruling in their life.
The temple is located on a hillock in the midst of Guwahati.
One of the main offerings here is to Lord Shani who is the Saturn lord. He is considered to bring hindrances if he is placed directly in your ruling house and hence is offered oil every Saturday as Saturday is the day of Saturn.
A great place to visit.

It offers a great view of Brahmaputra and its shore line. Placed atop a hill is a very ancient temple. Though it lacks maintenance like most of the temples in India yet, it looks there is some renovation is on. Hope it will see good days soon..

Even though the temples close early in the evening, this is a 'must see' temple in Guwahati. This temple is quite different from any other Navagraha temples seen elsewhere. All Navagrahas are in the shape of Shivaling and placed with huge space in between allowing space to walk around each of them. Said to be very powerful.

This temple is on top of a hill and not frequented by many people. The navagrahas are represented by shivlingas which are wrapped in different colour cloth. There are statues of the navagrahas near the lingas.as is common in old Hindu temples there is no natural light in the sanctum sanctorum and the only light is from the diyas in front of the navagrahas. One must beware of the few cockroaches on the ground. The temples has lots of monkeys who meander around without fear. The temple pujaries are friendly and not commercial. It was a very pleasant experience.

Navagraha temples are temples devoted to Navagraha - the Nava (nine) Grahas (major celestial bodies) of Hindu Astronomy. These celestial bodies are named Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Angaraka/Mangal (Mars), Budhan (Mercury), Guru/Brihaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (North Lunar Node) and Ketu (South Lunar Node). Many temples in South India contain a shrine dedicated to the Navagrahas.
However, the Navagraha Temple found on the top of Chitrachal Hill (or Navagraha Hill), in Guwahati city, Assam, India is. enshrined in the shape of nine Shivalingams, representing the nine Celestial bodies, each covered with a colored garment symbolic of each of the celestial bodies, with a Shivaligam in the center symbolizing the Sun.
This Navagraha temple is said to have been built by Ahom King Rajeswar Singha in the late 18th century and has been renovated between 1923-45.
The Temple premises and the surrendering areas gives a grand look. as the temple is on a Hillock. Autos and private vehicles are available to visit the temple from any part of Guwahati City.
Its indeed a rare type of Navagraha Temple found at this place and a must visit place for pilgrims.

The Navagraha Temple is situated on the top of Chitrasal Hill in Guwahati. You have to climb some stairs from road to reach the main shrine.
Enshrined in this temple are nine Shivalingams and these represent the nine planets, each covered with a colored garment symbolic of each of the planet, with a Shivaligam in the centre symbolizing the Sun. Inside of temple is dark and you have to stand there for sometime to accustom your eyes to see things properly or carry something like torch or may be mobile phone can help you to see.
There were lots of monkeys jumping around and I have to move around very carefully to avoid them, be careful.
There is nothing much to mention about temple but if you are going from religious point of view then ok but if you are going from a tourist point of view then you will not find much to see except for the view of Guwahati city from above.
