More picnickers on winter weekends with self-appointed site parking agents. We chose to go into a resort instead and so avoided the LOUD crowds. Later we took a boat ride on the beel and that was very nice.

We were told that Pabitora is better than Kaziranga but we ended up seeing fewer rhinos here. The journey from Guwahati was beautiful. Lot of bird species!

You can hire a taxi for half a day and take a jeep for the four of you. The drive to Pobitora is only about an hour or so. If you leave early in the morning, you can have lunch in Guwahati on your return.
