The Museum of Ceramics, which is operated by the Museum of Ceramics Foundation and the Ohio History Connection, houses an extensive collection of the wares produced in the city long known as "America's Crockery City" and "The Pottery Capital of the Nation." Enjoy a 12-minute movie about the Ohio valley pottery industry, then explore 2 floors of exhibits, including life-size dioramas of people working in the potteries. The museum houses the largest public collection of Lotus Ware porcelain. The museum building, formerly a post office, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is closed during January, February, and most of March except for previously arranged tours.

This museum has a nice collection of pottery pieces that were made in the area back to the 1800's. There is also a history of the town of East Liverpool that documents it's growth due to the pottery industry.

If this was posted on the day of the visit, it is true the Museum was closed because it was Sunday. Like many museums, the Museum of Ceramics is not open on Sundays or Mondays. However, we make special arrangements for out of town visitors...More
