We arrived at the spot and it did not look like the picture. The spot was kind a near the lake but there was not a clear path to the lake. The spots were right on top of each other with no privacy at all. It was not inviting or felt that it would be fun to stay. So we left and ask for our money back but there is a no refund policy. I would not go back or either recommend this place

We stayed in our usual place site 73 and it was the worse time ever due to all the Amish, Don't get me wrong everyone deserves a good time but not at everyone's expense. Burning plastic trash, trash everywhere, chewing gum everywhere you tried to walk. They would not move for cares to pass or for you to walk by, We have came here every year for as long as i can remember but no more, this was the weekend we brought our granddaughter for fun before school starts back but was afraid for her to even ride her bike because of the drinking and beer cans being thrown everywhere, was very sad, use to be a nice get away,, Thanks Misty and Joe Redpath

This is one of our favorite places to go. If you are looking for a full hookup spot, the spots are huge, a lot of space behind you, and a beautiful place to be if you enjoy camping.

Our campsite was gorgeous. It was quiet and relaxing. We are 63 and 64 and like to just make campfires and hang out with our dogs - so your mileage may vary. We are going again tomorrow.

I couldn't help but notice some pretty awful reviews...so I thought I would leave a review of my own. I spent 3 days and two nights at a primitive site on Mosquito Lake, July 6th 2018. I had a wonderful time with the local visitors as well as the campers from out of town. The lake was absolutely beautiful. And I made kayaking on it an everyday event. And the rangers patrolling on the lake and campsites regularly made me feel comfortable enough to leave my camping gear out at my site while I was away. The weather was beautiful and the mosquitos aren't as bad as some say. I did bring bug repellant and tons of sunscreen. The restrooms were outdated...but extremely clean all weekend. And the beach and live music were wonderful to visit too. All and all I give this State Park a big two thumbs up.

Was on lot #50 for the 3 day weekend of labor day this year, All 3 days no hot water in the womens showers. It rained one day and the lot dropped off as you walked off the pavement in front of our camper, filling with water.so therefore to enter our camper we walked thru a mud puddle.. Bags of dog poop everywhere, dogs barking everywhere. The restrooms (non flush) were filthy and smelled so bad, why cant they use some chemicals in them to keep the smell down? Don't think we'll be back until they change a few things.

We made last minute reservations for the campground. We booked a site near the playground, which is also on the main route to the boat launch. We had a ton of fun I must say. Nice perk is that the roads are all paved, makes it easy for bike riding and walking. Thet had a huge safety day at the marina Saturday which was a ton of fun for the kids. We enjoyed slushies at from the park office, bingo with the kids, they had a movie playing (which we missed) Saturday Night, and Sunday we even got to do stand-up paddleboarding. We were surprised to see the beach was actually packed, so my youngest enjoyed the water while the other two were off paddle boarding. I guess I was expecting the water to be gross like it's been at other lakes I've visited, but the beach area was not too bad. The bath house was clean. For women, the showers need some definite updating or fixing of whatever issues there are. The first night there was hardly any water coming out and if it was it was ice cold, finally, the 3rd stall I tried had decent water pressure, and lukewarm water. The next shower the water was almost ice cold. I'm sure that was because the heater couldn't keep up with the volume of people showering. So I docked a star because they need to fix this shower house or add another.

As I write this review my husband is on Mosquito Lake bass fishing. He fishes competitively. The lake is full of bass and walleye along with other local fish. So if you want to go fishing or boating this the a good place to go. The park is a nice place to walk, or to take your dog. There is a dog park for those that like that sort of thing. I do not like dog parks . I prefer to walk on the trails or the beach with my dog. My kids have liked roller blading and biking there to. There is a nice camp groups which I've never stayed in, but it appears clean . They do have Yurts to rent and the girl scouts stayed and loved them this year.

We reserve our spots in feb always.
We added a camping spot in may a few doors down from our reserved yurt 217.. so we had 217 and 219 i think. We arrived and they had us in 2 camping spots. Um no. They refused to at least comp one spot seeing as we came with our reservation for a yurt and had no camping equipment for half the group. After hours of seeing what they could do which was nothing i told them to cancel it all and i wanted a full refund which she said i would get for all of it. I still got charged a $16 fee for when they say i cancelled the yurt. Which i assure u i did not. Who the heck cancels a yurt?
We really liked this campground but after this.. not even trying to make it right.. nope we will never go there again and we will make sure to repost this review on every site we can. The "manager" was not nice at all and insisted we were at fault. I asked for her bosses name and # and she gave me a big card with the ohio park administrator name and an email.
My advice is check and double check ur reservations. Take screen shots.. which they asked us for.. who takes screen shots of ur reservation? She demanded we showed her the reservation which she knew we couldnt there is no cell service there. Very not nice.

Upon checking in,we were told out of three sites we requested, only one was available. It was our least choice, but we took it. As the weekend progressed,we noticed that the other two sites we wanted, which were next to the one we had, never were filled. The sites had a swamp behind it,which was fine as I hoped to see some water birds. However, our site had spots that you could tell ponded in the rain. And it was VERY buggy. Maybe it was the location being there was a swamp behind us.
The sites are very nice, with electric and cement pads. The women at the front desk were very nice and friendly. The firewood was a good price, $2.50 a bundle I think and it was nice and dry and good size pieces.
There is only one shower house, which you pretty much had to drive to. There were pit toilets scattered about, but the one down from us was HORRIBLE. I'm not fussy when it comes to pit toilets, but there was toilet paper all over one of the seats. That's fine to do,but please push it in the toilet when you are done. The garbage and playground were at the front of the campground, causing you to have to drive if you're camping in a back spot.We drove around looking for shore fishing as we don't have a boat, but couldn't find any available.
We weren't given any info on the park,so I don't know when quiet time was. The 10 mile an hour speed limit certainly wasn't used.
We probably will return in the future, only not in the summer..

Has anyone stayed in a yurt at Mosquito Lake? How was it? Was it air conditioned?

Are there more mosquitoes at this park than normal? Why the name?
Written 12 June 2017
Legend has it than when the early settlers were exploring and plotting out the land they were bumbarded by a large flock of mosquitoes, they found shelter under a large tub\bowl type of thing. they were found extracted of all fluid, and both shriveled up and dead
