Good Fire Memories

We visited here after one of the fire memorials one year. My uncle had been a firefighter and then an inspector. There were really cool items there.

This museum shares the history of firefighting in Columbus and is an excellent learning experience for both adults and children. Top notch displays in a historic fire station.

We stuck close to home for this one. Got on the bikes and pedaled the 2 miles to the Central Ohio Fire Museum. Because of work and travel schedules all that I had really been able to do before this was peek through the windows. We locked the bikes to a nearby parking meter and made our way in through... Pretty cool. An old firehouse turned museum. This place has some great old fire trucks, wagons, and a whole bunch of firefighting equipment. The staff is friendly and knows what they are talking about.

had a guided tour with one of the most informative tour guides I've ever had in any museum environment. as a firefighter for almost 15 years, it was great to learn a few new things, and share stories and such. even got to see a vehicle not on display yet!

I was really skeptical when we first parked and entered the building. Parking was a bit of an issue, as there is no formal parking lot. You just park in the alley. I went in thinking that we would only be there for a half hour, but we spent almost two hours for the whole experience! I learned so much... More

Great mix of static displays with very knowledgeable personal interaction with former firefighters. Super, if small, collection of antique trucks, wagons, and artifacts. Effective insertion of fire safety education. Well worth a stop.

What a great way to learn about fire history. Not only do they have historical equipment all the way from hand drawn ladder and pump trucks to gas ones, but they have a learning center for kids in the old stable area. Only down side is parking, but at least the parking was free.

This museum is very small and parking is a little tricky (but free!). Now that we've gotten the bad news out of the way.... :) This place is great...it is a restored firehouse built in 1908 (?) I think. So much history in one place! If you (or the kiddos) are fascinated by fire trucks, firefighters etc...or if you are... More

Stopped by the fire museum because we had a few hours to kill before leaving Columbus. The staff was friendly and offered a tour. We decided to walk around on our own. There are quite a few interesting firefighting artifacts here, including trucks, pumpers, etc. Also some smaller items like call boxes. I found the wooden water main section fascinating.... More
