During our trip to Holmes County, one of our first stops was the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center. The folks behind the counter were very welcoming and answered all of our inquiries about the customs and traditions of the Amish. There were also Amish related artifacts and documents, including a Bible from the 1500's! If you are a first time... More

My wife and I drove around some of the surrounding area and had wondered what the Amish and Mennonite day-to-day life looked like. I must admit, initially, I thought this would be more like a museum, 'walk around and read signs' type of a visit, but I was pleasantly surprised! We watched a quick 15 minutes video that gave an... We were travelling in the area and this was a great stop. The verbal description of Behalt was amazing and my guests were thrilled to have the opportunity to access this information.

The movie was very interesting and informative and we really enjoyed the exhibits as well. It is a small museum and doesn't take long at all to go through. Don't skip the movie or the opportunity to look at the clothing and Bibles. You can skip the barn tour though and visit Yoder's Farm instead.

I work in the hospitality industry in Berlin and I admit that I never gave this attraction a thought until I went there with a FAM tour. I was in awe at what I seen and heard about the history of the Amish and Mennonites and the mural is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Now, I... More

This place must be visited at least once. This museum if you will, has both Amish and Mennonite tour guides which provide insight into their history and they are willing to answer any questions you may have. You get to experience a real schoolhouse, Amish barn, and finally the incredible cyclorama painting which takes 30 minutes of the tour by... More

If you are interested to learn more about the history of the Amish and Mennonites you will enjoy this guided tour. The gentleman that gave us the tour was very informative. The cost is $ 8.95 per person.

A very worthwhile stop to better understand the roots and history of the Amish and Mennonite people from their European Roots. We enjoyed the 360 degree circular mural and presentation as well as tours of the barn and school house. If you visit the region don't miss this venue as it ties lots of points together.

There is a lot to see in this location so allow plenty of time - the tour of the cyclorama will take 30 minutes and you will want to wander the displays for at least another 30 minutes. There is also a gift shop offering wonderful jams and jellies, books, American Girl doll Amish dress and cap among other things.

If you want to learn more about the Amish and Mennonite religion, you should visit the center. Small, but interesting museum. It was raining, so they were not able to offer the outdoor tour, but the short film was very informative and the viewing of the mural and talk (done by an Amish gentleman) was excellent. We came away from... More
