I received a voucher for the winery for the chocolate-vino, we decided to use a different way which they were happy to do. So we had the mixed platters one meat and one cheese with the accompanying wines. Then we had some chocolates, also with the accompanying wine! The service was excellent and the knowledge and information from the staff... More

I stole that line from Dee Wright (cellar door manager) at this winery. She has a lovely turn of phrase to describe these unusual and exciting wines. Using Austrian grape varieties that I had never heard of before nd they do tantalise to be described. Not quite fitting the normal wine range. The Gru (from the grape varietal Gruner Veitliner)... Dear John, it was lovely to host you and your friends when you visited our cellar door. The 'White Mischief' Gruner Veltliner certainly is a fun wine to enjoy with friends! Thank you for quoting me! There is a little bit of Mischief in every one of us - it helps to keep us young at heart. I am so... More

an interesting experience. The tasting selections include cheese and wine tastings and chocolate and wine tastings. I had never considered chocolate as an accompaniment to white wines, they changed my mind.

The ChocoVino experience at Hahndorf Hill Winery is a unique experience. Choose from a number of different options, the idea is to match chocolate with wines from the winery. My wife and I learned lots things about the origins of chocolate and high quality chocolate making while enjoying the beautiful scenery. I recommend trying it if you visit this winery.... More

They offer what they call the Chocvino sensation where they have chosen certain chocolates to match with certain wines. I found the people a bit pompous and arrogant telling us how their selected experts have created wine and chocolate combinations - waste of $22. They provided 3 different white wines and supposedly 3 different dark chocolates but these all tasted... More

Dear CanberraBundyboy, Thank you for visiting our cellar door but I am sorry that you were disgruntled after your ChocoVino experience with us. However, you chose to taste a very dark chocolate and dry white wine option which our menu clearly states is for those seeking to challenge their tastebuds. Our menu also points out that 80% of the world... More

We took a white wine flight with an ab-fab platter of cheeses, dips and fresh antipasto. Then, couldn't resist taking a bottle of the Veltliner back to our accom.... You really should do this even if it is just once:)

Hahndorf Hill Winery is located in a very pretty setting. Its a pleasant place and our small group was well looked after. As some cellar doors do now, you are charged a $5 fee for tasting. Fair enough I guess but there are plenty who don't levy a fee. The host was friendly and knowledgeable but the wines are average... More

Dear Mark, Thank you for visiting our cellar door and for your complimentary words on our ambience and service. Regarding your comment on our wines, I need to point out that, while the enjoyment of wine is a purely subjective and personal experience, the professional evaluation of wine is based on objective and very specific quality criteria. Of the six... More
