It's certainly worth while the ride from Adelaide. Amazing mountain formations which change their colors as the daylight changes. And a lot of wildlife around. Be careful that you don't stumble over Kängurus!

The wide open space and grassy outback with Kangaroo and Emu running free is just what my family holiday. We were fortunate with the weather and the pound presented itself to us at its best on a day not crowded with other tourists. We had a nice bottle of wine with cheese and fruits picnic on a high point and... More

It was a wonderful place to visit especially once you've hiked it to the top and overlook the the pound. However, if you aren't a Telstra 5G customer, you won't have any reception so be aware.

For serious hikers, many tracks are closed in Summer for safety reasons. Speak to the rangers and watch the signs. We found the available walks suited us well given the heat of January. Take plenty of water (Camelbaks or similar are good).

We were here in September 2016, so were able to do the hike to Mount Ohlssen-Bagge which I think is closed in the summer due to the heat. All the hikes start from the main visitors' centre which has a small shop, cafe and toilets. There were some floods around the area when we were there but the paths were... More

The Homestead Walk & Wangara Lookout are great. If you want to do the harder walks (St Mary's Peak etc) don't come during summer as they are closed due to the high temperatures (& understandably so!)

This is a must see. Wilpena Pound in Central Flinders Rangers is a truly beautiful place. If you have the chance you should go.

Saw lots of wildlife and great views. Would have liked more time. Highly recommend Sacred Gorge though it has a dirt road to get to it
