There is a 5 km track that circumnavigated the lake and this is what we did on a visit. If you go clockwise from the tea house, you soon come across the impressive twin kauris. Otherwise, the track only provides occasional views of the lake itself and, when we visited, there was not so much birdlife present. Excellent for the exercise, but not such great sightseeing.

We drove quite a distance from The Daintree to have scones and tea in the cafe on this lake and the day was cold and miserable. When we got there it was closed due to a festival on nearby. Very disappointed. We didn't stay long in the area as it was raining. It looked lovely and we wish it had of been a nice day and the cafe had of been open.

So tranquil and beautiful. We couldn’t do the boat ride because of covid but we enjoyed every minute of being at the lake. Teas, iced coffees and scones are amazing! We have been back several times when on holiday here and will continue to return. Next time we might have a swim there!

We had a short stop at lake Barrine on a rainy day. Would hv loves to explore more in better weather.
Gave 5-stars cos we managed to find the short trail (which is v well maintained) to see the twin Kauris. They are really lovely trees.

This is absolutely beautiful. A must see.
Plenty of parking on site. Public toilets here too.
Gardens/lawns are impeccably kept.
Would love to come back for tea & scones on the deck next time.
Highly recommend a stop in here.

Since we have done many cruises around the country, this one rates as an OK.
We got to see a few eagles, other wildlife and many turtles feeding.
To the newcomer, or some-one from overseas, (as we had) this would be astonishing!
We had this cruise as part of our tour through the highlands of Cairns.
I'm not sure of the price as it was included as one of our many stops.
Don't get me wrong, it is worth a visit if you are in the area and it is heritage listed, with
lots of explanations’ of the history of the place and the area you will cruise through.
It is a nice peaceful cruise, so enjoy the serenity and relax.
There is also about a 100 metre stroll to the 1,000+ year old giant Twin Kauri Pines.
This walk is located to the left as you arrive and the tea house to the right.
The scones, cakes and coffee we had were pretty good too.

Excellent lunch or arvo tea stop on your journey. Just off the main road this huge freshwater lake. Enjoy the tea house, and then go for a swim after lunch! Very pleasant.

Pleasant drive out to Lake Barrine from Cairns and the lake is so tranquil and beautiful. There is a cool garden surrounding the teahouse and the plants are tropical and lush.
