A one kilometre board walk through a spectacular and diverse rainforest of ferns and vines under a tall story of gums and myrtle beech. For such a short walk there is plenty to see along with the largest moss in the world, a must see...More

Very dense forest here and great place for a cool walk on a hot day. Bit of a drive to get here on a 5km unsealed road (but this was quite a wide road). It was quite worth the drive, not that far from Melbourne...More

What a wonderful experience it is to see ancient Eucalypts soaring skywards. The yellowing leaves of the neighbouring Myrtle Beeches drifting onto the mossy banks of the stream is a photographer's dream. Lovely on a hot day. Superb in the mist

A beautiful walk through Myrtle Gully yesterday. We approached it from the track behind Cascade Brewery and included a round trip via the Gully to Junction Cabin, Knocklofty Reserve and back to West Hobart. Are there any actual myrtle trees in Myrtle Gully and if...More

We covered all three trails in the 17km bush walk. Couple of uphills but I’d grade it a medium walk. Lovely dense forest with really tall gum trees. We didn’t see any wildlife but a friend who did the easier walk, saw two snakes! We...More

We had a lunch booked with friends at the Toolangi Tavern (totally worth it) and thought we’d go for a hike and loved it. The track (we did the Tangledoot Loop) in parts is overgrown but enjoyed walking amongst the fern.

Up a dirt track and a bit out of the way, but the Wirrawilla Rainforest walk is worth the drive. From the small-ish carpark, there is a well formed track that leads down to the boardwalk, which meanders through the rainforest setting. There is a...More

We went up for a drive and a short walk and really enjoyed the wonderful nature. The boardwalks were lovely surrounded by trickling water, green fernery and a calming feel. Good for a wheelchair with only a short part on stones and the rest on...More

This was a really pretty walk: including streams and beautiful rainforest scenery! I would recommend this as it is doable in a day from Melbourne.

Yes. 99% of the boardwalk section is under trees so it's under the shade. Hope this helps 👍
