We had a Saturday afternoon with Captain Brett on the beautiful Balonne River in St George. I had been to St George and been on the river before but had never experienced the peaceful serenity that Sandytown River Cruises provided. For 2 hours Brett shared his love and deep knowledge of this fantastic body of water. The bird life, the... More

A very big thank you from SRC. We are very fortunate to live along the beautiful Balonne river which forms part of Australia's principal river the Murray/Darling. Over 230 species of birds can be found within a 100 k radius of St George, simply due to the river system. More

On a sunny Winter morning we enjoyed a peaceful cruise on the calm Balonne River. Brett gave the most informative commentary on the history of the river including floods and drought. He was also very knowledgable regarding the beautiful birdlife.

Thank you from SRC. Simply serene is the Balonne river. As part of the Murray/Darling catchment the Balonne river is also one of the fastest flowing rivers in the southern hemisphere. There are over 230 species of birds within a 100 k radius of St George, simply due to the river system. Many migratory birds follow the system. The Balonne... More

A fantastic, relaxing cruise on the Ballone River. Brett was a wealth of knowledge. He couldn't control the weather but the offer of blankets to help cut down the wind chill was a nice touch. BYO drinks and food.

A great way to spend 2 hours from 4 pm to 6 pm! The guide, Brett, was informative and interesting, and obviously knew the river and environs well. Plenty of opportunities for some stunning photos, loved the wildlife and the serenity of it all was wonderful!

Thank you from SRC. Brett spent countless hours in, on and around the river swimming, skiing, camping and fishing while growing up in St George, hence his enthusiasm. The beautiful Balonne river provides "plenty of opportunities" for photographing spectacular panoramic colour and asymmetric reflections on the water surface as well as the wonderful wildlife. More

We were a group of friends who went on the sunset cruise. It leaves the wharf at 4.00 pm and returns at 6.00 pm. Cost $35 per adult. You can take your own drinks and nibblies if you wish. It is a very peaceful trip on the Ballone River and the sunset, on our particular trip was spectacular. The commentary... More

The 4pm - 6pm cruise along the Balonne River with Brett was a very lovely and enjoyable couple of hours. Brett provided an interesting commentary that didn't overwhelm us with too many facts and figures. This trip coincided with the sunset so the appearance of the river, the trees lining the banks and the clouds in the sky progressively changed... More

Thank you very much from SRC (I can only wish it was "my" river.) The beautiful Balonne river is an amazing experience. Described by Sir Thomas Mitchell " as fine a looking stream I have seen in the colony excepting only the Murray...the breadth was uniform and the vast body of water was a cheering sight." More
