I’m surprised at the high rating the falls gets. If I was an interstate or overseas visitor I would not make a special effort to visit, as compared to other attractions on the Sunshine Coast, Gardner’s is not that special or attractive. The water is always murky and the facilities are basic. Also the atmosphere can really depend on the people that are there at the time. On sunny weekends from about October to March it can be friendly, but crowded with people having a good time sitting in the water to cool off or jumping from the rope swings or rocks. But there are also those lovely folk who think it’s ok to smash glass, drop their fag ends, graffiti, throw nappies/condoms/bongs into the bushes or not bother to walk to the toilets for #2’s. That can really sour the experience.

It is terrible.
Gardners Falls was overcrowded, heavily littered (there was litter on the ground next to the bins, even!), the water was murky and brown, filled with algae and sharp rocks/broken beer bottles. People come with loud speakers and play profane music, dominating areas. There is no parking, as well!
I would recommend another, better treated area for a nice nature visit, such as Kondalilla Falls.

First part of the waterfall is an easy walk from the carpark. To see the larger falls (approx 4 to 5 metre drop) you will need to be steady on you feet as you need to traverse rocks and tree roots.
Car parking is limited. Larger vehicles i.e. caravans and trailers are not permitted as there is no turning circle or room.

Early morning stroll when very few around. Sitting on the rocks with my feet immersed in the cool running mountain water. Listening to the Whip birds. What could be better. I prefer the quiet times as can get a bit crowded when the weather is warm in weekends. Get there early to grab an easier park. Great that most of the walk is fairly flat and accessible to a wheelchair too.

We incorporated our walk with lunch at Tamarind at the Spicers Retreat. The restaurant is approx 300m from the Falls carpark.
The falls are an easy walk from the carpark however once at the waterfall the rocks and undulating surfaces need care.
You aren’t alone here as it is popular swimming hole for families and young adults.

It’s a nice & easy stroll along the creek side with a nice waterfall at the end. Several people went for a swim, bit cold in June but would be popular in hot summer months. Car parking is fairly limited.

Really not a great waterfall but lots of people swimming in the water which was running well and several different areas from shallow to deep. Very little seating/picnic tables (almost non existent) parking is a very small area and even on a Monday it was chockers and difficult to negotiate. The pathway along the stream was adequate if sure footed.

About 1 hr south of Noosa, with many nice sightseeing within the area. The main falls are a very short walk from the carpark. It’s a really nice walk along Obi Obi Creek where there are a few small falls where you can just sit in and let the fresh water wash around you. At the main falls people where jumping of the cliff into the water, or swinging of ropes and landing in the water. Great spot not to be missed, with toilet & picnic facilities.

Gardeners Falls is known more to locals than travellers but it is a real gem to visit. Park in the car park and walk the short distance to the rocky creek which culminates in a waterfall drop. Right now there is no waterfall, but usually there is an incredible fall to check out. More for teens than little kids as the activities are high energy! [though idf you take little kids you can play in the pools on the rocky creek bed]. You can jump into the pool at the bottom or swing off the high rope on a tree[ not for the fainthearted!], sit on the rocks to the side of the falls or float in the water. If you can't bring yourself to jump in then step down the rocks or walk to the righthand side and you can enter the water. It's always cold of course but refreshing and a great place for a picnic on the bank next to the flowing creek. Then check out the lovely small town of Maleny with it's interesting shops, art and cafes.

The walk from the car park to the falls themselves is certainly part of the enjoyment. An easy level walk alongside the river provides plenty of opportunity for some great photos. While the falls themselves are only small they are interesting when there is a descent amount of water running over. This is also a very popular swimming spot.

Hi, not 100% sure but you could go on the Translink page and put in your start and end destinations and see if there is any buses. Also Kangaroo bus line is pretty big here they might have a bus that does the route.

Can we take prams? I have a 3 month old baby. Is it okay for babies?
Written 14 April 2018
Hello, Yes you can take a pram. The paths in some areas have abit of water like a puddle over them. Paths are harden dirt. Top of the road into Falls where you can park your car is steep. Lower carpark is flat but not alot of carparks.

Can anyone give me info on the tarzan swing and if it safe etc
Written 5 September 2017
When I went a few weeks back there was not much water so it was a few metres drop to the water. There were two bike handles attached to two ropes. I think it would be quite a climb to get out. One of them was up a very steep, slippery looking slope. It is probably much easier when there's more water about. Certainly not ok for young kids at the moment but I can imagine teenagers might still give it a go.

Can you bring a dog there by any chance?
Written 24 December 2016
Afraid no dogs allowed at any time according to local govt website.
"Council regulations also specify areas prohibiting dogs due to the sensitivity of the area.
Maleny Park - Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, Mountain View Road. No dogs permitted at anytime, Gardner’s Falls, Maleny-Landsborough Road"
