Outback Pioneers invites everyone to come to Longreach and discover the heritage and pioneering spirit of outback Queensland.

Step into pioneers shoes for holidays and experiences that entertain, educate and inspire.

Owned and managed by the Kinnon family, Outback Pioneers reflects their love of the outback lifestyle and dedication to preserving it for future generations. What began in 2006 as a way to diversify the family’s grazing business in times of drought has become a passion to share Australia’s iconic heritage with visitors.

When you visit Longreach you can also stay in Kinnon & Co’s award-winning, heritage-inspired Outback Accommodation, which is an attraction in its own right.

Outback Pioneers is the only place in Australia you can gallop in a Cobb & Co stagecoach along part of an old mail route, see the Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show and much more. You can also take a sunset cruise on the Thomson River to a stockman’s dinner around the campfire plus visit the Kinnon’s historic, working Nogo Station where Captain Starlight kept his stolen cattle and where station life continues to defy drought and distance.

In Longreach, the Kinnon & Co Station Store and The Welcome Home are further attractions and the Outback Pioneers booking office is in The Welcome Home building at 128 Eagle Street.

The Kinnon family really make Longreach a fantastic place to visit! They are very professional, passionate about the outback history and clearly enjoy what they do. Our first experience was the Starlight Cruise & Lightshow which was fabulous - cruised on the paddle steamer for about an hour. It is BYO alcohol and nibbles are provided while watching the sunset.... More

Tells the tail of the outback in a unique setting. The coach that takes you to the river is first class. The boat on the river has limited features but provides for the experience. The dinner was tasty but out night out had electrical problems which slowed the pace down s little. I'm sure it was a one off problem.

I spent the day with the Kinnon and Co men doing Winton and the Dinosaurs exhibits in Winton and surrounds. Visiting Winton township and having a great time. Richard and Windsor made the coach trip of 2 hours each way very interesting with tibits and local knowledge. Then a quick change of clothing back in Longreach and on the bus... More

We have taken away such wonderful memories from Longreach, mostly due to our experiences with Outback Pioneers. Our first day in Longreach was spent doing the Cobb and Co Coach ride - the whole family loved it! Scones and tea on our return were a delicious treat. We all enjoyed watching the Smiley movie - a real blast from the... More

Kids favourite part of Longreach. The Kinnon brothers shine, absolutely fabulous show. Cobb and co ride great. River tour and dinner fabulous. Winton tour overpriced as was the Nogo station. Shame because the things this family do well they do superbly

We went on stagecoach trip, which included the 'old tent show', stage coach ride, old movie (Smiley Gets a Gun) and afternoon tea. The whole family (two adults and three kids) enjoyed every part. The staff were very friendly, informed and entertaining. I like the fact that the Kinnons are a local farming family that decided to diversify and that... More

We had the best 4 days in Longreach , highlighted by our stay in the 'Slab Huts' at Kinnon & Co we had the 3 day pass and we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of each day. Jeremy and Lane are an absolute credit to their family, very talented young men. I can highly recommend the accommodation with friendly service from... More

This evening was so much more than we expected. The staff were wonderful, entertaining & knowledgeable. We were on The Princess as the paddle steamer was fully booked, but to be honest I think it was better. The Princess was comfortable and full of character and we were able to see the paddle boat making her way up the river.... More

G'day Joe, We reckon the dinner on Starlight's Cruise Experience is top notch, too. How good is the damper and billy tea? So great to read you enjoyed the cruise and it was more than you imagined - we couldn't ask for more! We hope you got some great memories to take home with you from your time in Outback... More

Very professionally handled from whoa to go! Just had to experience a stagecoach ride and what better place to do it than Longreach. Black and white snaps taken prior to the ride for sale of course after. The ride itself was surprisingly smooth with excellent, informative commentary along the route. This ride was made special by an albino horse running... More
