Although interesting to walk through the winding path to view the numerous huts, we felt as if the original market was more of a drug fest.

Don't bother not like it was many years ago just a waste of time to visit. The train is OK but overpriced
Look at visiting elsewhere and by road

This is fun for a look - we had a wander, ate some snacks and generally enjoyed the hippie vibe. We didn’t do any real shopping as the fashions weren’t to our taste but still fun

So we decided to do the sky rail and Karanda train which came highly recommended. It was also recommended that we spend two hours, at least in Karanda looking through the shops.

Little did I know that Karanda is the most disgusting, dirty, Boho, bogan, alternate tie-dye, dreadlocked, don’t cut your toenails, never seen a toothbrush, kind of place. Literally wanted to leave within minutes of arriving, but had to wait till 2 pm for the train!

We wondered around in an out of dank foul, smelling alleys and shops containing dank, foul smelling people. Literally nothing good to look at or to buy unless you want to buy mandalas or didgeridoos. They do sell real life, kangaroo paws and crocodile claws as well as kangaroo scrotums. Could you get any more base Karanda? Showed a very poor side of Australia and not what the rest of Australia is actually like.

Will never go back to Karanda, unless I want to contract, lice, fleas, cooties, or herpes.

Alternative market more like it! If you’re into hippie, new age stuff go, otherwise be prepared for an Asthma attack with all the incense burning. I couldn’t breath and had a pumping headache by the end. I did not enjoy my experience. Catering only for a certain market. Very disappointing and in my view not really a market.

Quite enjoyable but would have loved to see some more unique local crafts although there were some shops selling locally made stuff a lot felt a bit the same as anywhere else. Felt parts of Kurandah were a little bit shoppe.

OK for an hour or so but most stores selling same stuff- tourist trash !. A few exceptions i guess, but once you ve seen 1 $15 Koala teatowel, you ve seen them all although some nice stalls with indigenous original handmade crafts. Had to have 3 hours there after arriving by cable car and waiting for the train back was way too long there

Must say was disappointed with the markets as nearly every stall was the same and overly priced. The stalls catered more for international visitors.
