WARNING - not advertised on their website but the cinema only takes cash. They do have an ATM but if you pay using phone and don’t carry cards (like a lot of people these days) you will miss out. We drove an hour from Airlie beach to take our 3 kids to the movies and had to turn around and go back. Very disappointed kids! It is a lovely little cinema so really sad to have missed out.

What a gem of a theatre is the 1940s art deco Summergarden Cinema. And what a gem of a film was 'Slim and I'. Immensely rich in characters and song- so much I didn't know about this Aussie legend and his amazing wife. A perfect cinema for this film with friendly staff who really looked after their patrons. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

What a great theatre, lots of atmosphere, very comfortable seating. Went to see the The Nut Farm, very corny and funny movie. Has all the usual movie eats, good sound. Meet the owner, has ran place for 62 years. Did ask him what his next project would be. LOL. Great experience and value with entry ticket being $10. will be returning. Oh yes, need to bring cash as no card payments accepted.

This is a great place to take in the movies (and the latest blockbusters get released here too). The owner, Ben DeLuca is usually on hand to personally greet you and direct you to your theatre (there are two within the complex). The exterior of the building is what I would describe as Art Deco.

Yes it is old but the character of this cinema is great, the owner is such a lovely gentleman and makes this place what it is today, my grandkids look forward to seeing him as much as the movies as he is always poliet, friendly and interacts with the crowd what an asset to Bowen and also the prices are fantastic for the movies and very affordable for families

Always a good experience for a small theatre concern. Greeted by the owner and friendly staff. You can be the only one in the cinema and it still runs

What a pleasure it was to visit this cinema. Many old features and the building has retained the charm from 1940s. Prices are far lower than those of the big cinemas.
Very comfy. Place to take the kids.

I was planing for a 3D movie as it said on their website but when I got there they said they haven't had a 3D movie in ages. But after all I got to see the movie I wanted.

I have been going to this same theatre for over 40 years and the same guy has owned it all that time. The main theatre has hardly changed except for more modern chairs..sometimes I miss the old canvas chairs. The new smaller theatre has all the mod cons of 3D etc and has great sound. In the old days we would wait months to see a new movie now we get to see them the same as the city. Thanks Benny for keeping my favourite place to be going..
