We stopped here for a little rest. We wish we had organize a night around this area! Neat beautiful bay recovered and maintained by the local school. There other little beaches around too and they are all great spots for a dip! Just be aware there might not be flags.

A recommended stop over in a coastal Queensland trip. We snorkelled and swam in the warm sheltered waters of Horseshoe Bay. The water is clear and we enjoyed observing the coral and fish. Also enjoyed the walks and lookout.

Lovely sheltered spot with shady areas to sit if you’d prefer to be out of the sun. Parking was easy.

Very pretty little beach surrounded by rocky outcrops.
Much smaller than we were expecting but lovely calm waters to swim in
There are toilets and change rooms available and a very expensive cafe ($26 for a single hamburger)

Great swimming beach and also good for snorkelling. Lovely little cove and a lookout as well. Has a restaurant if you're hungry. Great spot.

Beautiful bay with crystal clear water and stunning rocks. Stayed at Whitsunday Sands which is a nice older style resort right near Horseshoe Bay and Grays Bay which is also stunning

Gorgeous beach - one of the best we've seen in the state. Fine white sand, plenty of shade, tables and seating available, clean toilet facilities and shower on site. We had a lovely afternoon.

I never knew Bowen had such beautiful beaches, until now! Horseshoe Bay is idyllic and secluded and a swim is impossible to resist. The waters are beautiful and the views are picture perfect. It’s an exotic cove with yellow sands, turquoise water, rock formations and mini islands scattered about. It’s the type of spot you may find as a filming location for a movie. A truly beautiful spot and my swim was 100% refreshing.
To top it off, I enjoyed a delicious mango & banana smoothie at The Cafe next to the car park afterwards. Toilets and showers are provided as well as information on how to protect yourself in stinger season.

how do I arrange snorkeling in horseshoe bay?

The caravan park hires and sells snorkling gear and stinger suits. We hired for the day but I think you can hire by the hour as well. You'll find the shop entrance opposite the first carpark you see, as you enter the bay. If you find yourself in the cafe you've gone too far.

If I were in that area I would go to Airlie Beach for New Year or head north to Cairns.
