About
Australia’s favourite BIG THING (in our opinion anyway!) is also the home of Bowen's accredited Visitor Information Centre! Situated on the A1 Bruce Hwy with sweeping views of the Whitsunday coast it’s the perfect pull over during the epic East Coast Australian Roadtrip. Get your selfie then pop into the accredited Information Centre on site for all the info on our great state of Queensland. Grab an icy cold mango sorbet and learn about Bowen, the wonderful Whitsunday region, book a Whitsunday experience, grab a map, guide book, have a chat and a cuppa! Happy Travels!

We stopped for the big mango but left with so much knowledge of the area and where to go. The ladies at the desk were fantastic and answered all of our questions and suggested some fantastic places to eat and snorkel definitely worth a stop if you're going to bowen.

Delicious mango sorbet
Jan 2021 • Family
We always stop in here for their delicious mango sorbet with beautiful water views from the seating area outside. The information center staff are very friendly & helpful.
Lots of souvenirs or ice creams to purchase.
Spotless toilets.

Good photo op
Dec 2020 • Couples
We stopped here for a photo and some sorbet, it’s a good photo opportunity the big mango itself can’t be entered it’s just for looks. Bowen itself apart from a few beaches is desolate.

This is really a quick stop for the photo. The visitor center is full of helpful information and knowledgeable volunteers. I enjoyed my stop to talk with them and the mango sorbet was delicious!

It's a big mango...
Nov 2020
We stopped for an appropriately touristy photo with the mango and it is indeed big. We went into the visitor centre to use the toilets and had our ear talked off by a very enthusiastic volunteer for about 20 minutes, which would have been great if we weren't busting for the loo. Make sure you grab some mango sorbet while you are here.

Bowen mangoes are the best. Its great to see that they are recognized with this huge monster by the side of the highway.

Thank you so much for your review Chook1943. We agree, our Kensington Pride Mangoes (also known as Bowen Special) are amazing! We are very lucky to be able to eat fresh in November/December and and through our Bowen Mango Sorbet all year around. Did you know that Bowen has two Big Mangoes? - one is located on the Bruce Highway and a smaller version can be found on Santa Barbara Parade in the centre of town.

Another "biggie"

Australia has a lot of Big ... dotted around the country and as Bowen is the centre of the mango growing area, it has to have this.

Only saw it on a drive by but it truly is the biggest mango structure I’ve ever seen! Great if you want an instagramable photograph!

Worth the quick stop
Jul 2020
Heading north, The Big Mango is an easy stop just off the highway before Bowen.

Ok, its just another BIG something, but it also has a small open-air creative art installation just beside and that made the stop even better.

The visitor centre is in the same slipway, so its all worth a quick stop here

Great place to have a break, staff were friendly, food was very good and reasonably priced and a great rest area across the road. Would stop again.
