Hi Aaron, sounds like you have been converted! What a great response to The Crystal Caves tour. René spent so much time building the caves over the years starting in 1987, so glad you could appreciate the work that has gone into building and maintaining...More

Good place to get to know the different stones and minerals. Tour in the "caves" is interesting, you can experience what it is like to be an adventurer. The fossils were also fascinating.

Thank you for your review. René did build the caves exactly for the reasons you mentioned. He was crazy about the Indiana Jones movies and think he may have borrowed some ideas...

This review is only for the shop as we did not pay for the caves admission. The layout and displays were beautiful but unfortunately many of the crystals were important and not authentic Australian. A nice place to stop on your waterfall circuit drive.

Thank you for your review, we do have crystals and fossils from all over the world, not just Australia. While Australia has some amazing gemstones, South America has the mother lode of Amethyst.

Thank you for recognising that being encouraged to touch is not common for a mineralogical museum. René does still pop in regularly, and even though he is 80 years old he still spends most of his time cutting and polishing Agates from Agate Creek.

Thank you for your review. It is true that from the front it is difficult to fathom the labyrinth of caves that René has built since 1987! The geode cracking is super popular and I am pleased that your boys got to experience that.

We didnt pay for the self guided tour and just browsed through the shop. Lots of lovely stones. My daughter cracked one of the geodes and received a unique souvenir of our visit.

Thank you for your review, the shop alone is quite an attraction isn't it? With a massive display of Amethyst and the crack a geode is just so much fun!
