What a phenomenal experience we had at the Wombat Forrest, a hidden gem amongst the Australian bushland and the service was on point!!! We were greeted upon arrival as we walked into the venue, we decided to sit outside on this warm autumn day on the deck which overlooked the native bushland. As we were seated, the cellar door staff member brought us over some water and then asked if we would like to do a wine tasting. Well of course, we decided to do a wine tasting, what a better way to explore local wines but through our taste buds. We were given wine tasting notes, some history of the vine yard and even a personal recommendation of the cabernet rose being the cellar door staff member choice of wine. After enjoying our wine tasting, we decided to have a glass of wine each to enjoy with the cheese platter, another winner for us. You cannot beat a cheese platter with wine, but this cheese platter was delicious the produce was sourced locally and, we particularly fancied the blue vein cheese. Every where we looked, we could feel the warmth, passion and knowledge that the owners had put in to their venue. We particularly loved the beautiful pictures displayed on the wine barrels, as we were looking at the photos the cellar door staff member shared that the images were taken by the owner Deidre, representing the different seasons of the vineyard. After a wonderful afternoon, it was time for us to head back to the big smoke but not without purchasing a couple bottle of wine. We decided on a bottle of the cabernet rose and a bottle of cabernet sauvignon. We look forward to returning to Wombat Forest Vineyard, and we definitely will be bringing our family and friends to experience the ambiance of this winery.

We were excited to visit but sorely disappointed. Space is lovely however we were more or less ignored when we arrived and the service went downhill from there. We had planned on a tasting and then a glass of wine and a cheese plate at the fire - but the tasting took so long despite us being the only people in the place that we lost interest. There were no tasting notes or price list. We had come to buy wine and left dissatisfied. Wine is ok but there is plenty to choose from in the area and we’ll be going elsewhere.

Drove passed a few times on route to Daylesford but this time stopped. The young lady spent time (with the warm fire going in the corner) to explain the winery and the wines. We bought some and that night the red was just fantastic (possibly the best we have had in the whole of Victoria!) and in the new function rooms would be brilliant for any kind of function. Open 10AM to 5PM

Wombat Forrest Vineyard is undoubtedly one of the best places to unwind in the Macedon Ranges region, with a relaxed atmosphere and stunning views. Their wine is a bit of a well-kept secret, with fantastic sparkling varieties like their (red) Pinot noir and the equally unique (golden) Blanc de noir.
If your planning a tour of region it is well worth the stop and if you’re looking for an events space for a wedding or corporate function check out the #Burrow - also located on the property.
Wombat Forrest Vineyard isn’t yet one of the more famous offerings of the Macedon Ranges region however it should and probably will be.

Small production but making good wines - Sparkling, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Really like the Cab Sav, but the Chardonnay is unoaked with out any malolactic fermentation which is not to my taste, but still a good wine. Nice little tasting room and Dee is a great person to run you through their wines and explain the details of the vineyard. Also, they do have a wombat! An old male that lives on the lower reaches of the property and comes out at night to check out the vineyard and surrounds! Well worth a visit.
