It was a good day to visit the falls as there has been a lot of rain recently. The force of the water was very noisy and fast, making it an atmospheric experience.

The falls are beautiful and well worth a visit. As with all waterfalls they are more spectacular after heavy rain. Signage to the footpath is none existent and could be better because when we went several people were wondering how to access them. Once you find the way which is to the left of the spar and hotel it is an easy short walk. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of poor signage.

This was the first stop for us of the boat and after walking through the front of hotels , the backs of hotels someone's garden we stumbled on to a path as we had nothing to lose we headed up it and Prise The Lord there it was and it was a sight to behold , as dribbles go it was a gusher I have had bigger leaks on my central heating at home . If someone could erect a sign pointing folk in the right direction he would be entitled to the freedom of Keswick anyway if it's raining cats and dogs I would head there as fast as you can if its sunny I wouldn't ..

This spot gives you picture perfect views of the valley, plus it's peaceful and quiet if you visit when it's close to dusk.

Amazon location, the view of the woodland and the adjacent Derwentwater and Catbells and beautiful. The falls themselves are lovely and sound almighty after heavy rain fall. Worth a visit it you are in the area or doing the Lakeside walk. However, on dry or hot days the falls are a trickle so you might be disappointed if you have made a trip especially to see it.

LOCATION
The Hotel itself is without doubt in a beautiful setting, however walking into Keswick is not possible due to lack of footpaths. There are various points along route where there are, but then nothing and as the road is very narrow would be an unsafe option to walk. The bus stop is outside the hotel alternatively a return taxi journey to & from hotel will cost £18
HOTEL
Overall could do with a complete make over, reception area, bar area, corridors and public areas all need bringing into the 21st Century, everything looks tired & dated, just feels like your stepping back in time. Check-in was ok, but had to book a breakfast slot for both mornings, I was not aware having booked directly with the hotel that this could be done prior to arrival, as depending on what time you want, that slot might not be available.
FOOD
The Bar area only serves food until 4.30pm, one to be aware of if you think you’ll grab a snack on a late arrival. No Room Service available or certainly no IRD menu to suggest otherwise
Mizu on the whole food was “nice” nothing special left feeling underwhelmed. Can be very busy and noisy. Had to ask for a glass of wine 3 times before it finally came, by which time had finished the meal we wanted it to go with.
ROOMS
Booked a lake view room with Balcony, (room 103) absolutely no privacy whatsoever, these rooms are on the front of the hotel not only is there nothing to divide the rooms next door, which could easily be rectified by covering each side of the balcony with tall plants but to sit and enjoy the view you end up being stared at by everyone waiting at the bus stop. Just a horrible experience to sit out in. Also the hotel controls the balcony lights so if you wanted to sit out at night, be prepared to just sit in the dark
No mini fridge, no air-con & only freeview no sat tv
SPA
£35 each for a 2 hour slot if not staying in a suite. In the main facilities are good, however my gripe is not enough beds for the guests in the 2hour slot and if you don’t hang your towel on a peg .. it will be removed. No one knows whose is whose towel or dressing gown or slippers, I walked off with someone else’s dressing gown and phone in pocket and someone else did the same with mine, stupid system and hardly hygienic having people route through to find what could be theirs. It does have a champagne bar but be prepared to pay £14 for 125ml glass when it’s only £12 in the bar ???
INTERNET
Just Rubbish nothing else to say
OVERALL
Having paid £768 for 2nights and another £260 for a treatment & the spa would I recommend … NO would I return … NO is it value for money definitely NOT

Where do I start?! We had the most AMAZING day! It exceeded both of our expectations and we are absolutely gutted it is now all over!
The day went so smoothly, we didn’t have to worry about a single thing. Not only on the day but from the moment we booked our wedding the team at Lodore were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Even when we were discussing postponing to 2022 they were so understanding and patient.
We are both so grateful for all of their hard work. They made our day absolutely perfect and we couldn’t have wished for a better venue or wedding team! We can’t thank them enough for making our wedding day the best day of our lives! I just wish we could do it all again!

We also had a young lady in a wheelchair and the staff at Lodore were so wonderful in making her and her family feel included and comfortable throughout the day. Her family were particularly touched by the wedding team adding a sash to the back of her wheelchair!

If you are considering a wedding at Lodore…do it! You will not be disappointed!

Took a boat trip from Keswick especially to see the falls on recommendation of a friend
Arrived at the jetty after a pleasant boat trip and after a swift beer in the nearby spa hotel where we observed a wedding on a lovely sunny Saturday
Came out of the hotel and walked 200m to the path to the falls
A gentle assent through the woods but watch your footing as the tree roots are exposed in places
We could hear the water 💧 in the distance and were soon at the cascading falls for a group photo pic
One of our party had some walking difficulties so didn’t make the trip however it is not a difficult walk so most will enjoy the experience
Look out for an old log that has had hundreds of coins pushed into it. Very quaint.
The Falls are definitely worth seeing
