Good to spent a quite couple of hours

I really enjoyed looking round this compact museum. Some very interesting items in there. The small shop had some nice things and it was nice to chat to the Gentleman on the desk.

A much loved local museum with a Welsh of exhibits lovingly displayed. Captures the enthusiasm and wisdom of its founders and its present supporters . A lovely setting for a museum at the hcentre of an overlooked but nonetheless fascinating town . Accessible and well used and free.

We read in the newspaper about the temporary insect exhibition at this place and so went along, we are fairly local but hadn't been before. We were not disappointed! You could spend hours in here, it's really interesting, you can read about drug use, see old teapots and stuffed animals...all sorts, mixed together so there's something of interest for all... More

A good old fashioned Victorian style museum with lots of objects on display in glass cages. Its not one of your bright new shiny places with digital interaction, although there are special events for kids and adults, such as a creative writing course. The fun is wondering what you will see next - the collection seems to cover every possible... More

I came back to the town for a visit after many decades of being away. I remember being a 7 year old visiting the museum on a school trip. I partly went back in on memory lane trip and a curiosity trip. It really is a gem, amazing local artifacts and very helpful staff. My hour visit turned into three... More

Well worth the trip especially if you are visiting Peckover House. There is so much to see in this little museum as the collections span centuries. So many artifacts on show that were found locally will give you a real taste of life in the area from Roman to the present day. There is a little bit for every age... More

Visited and found that the exhibition room theme is insects. Large cars on disk pay from the Elgoods insect collection. Interesting books and items for sale in shop. Visits free but donation box suggests a contribution of £1 per head. Good value!

Lots to see, is done over 2 floors. Good local history and very friendly, helpful staff. Small gift shop which is very reasonably priced.

I have been going to the museum since I was a little girl and visited with my children regularly and am now taking my young grandaughters. We all love it, it is really special! Whatever you are interested in there is something for you. My favourite is the old shop display. There are activities for children in the holidays which... More
