This is a gem - extremely well run with the assistance of friendly and helpful volunteers. The permanent exhibits have a local focus and there are also special events and exhibits. The museum provides a really interesting way to spend an hour or so.

We've been to many local museums, most are really dire. This however, was refreshing! Its staff and volunteers have clearly put in much effort to make visits worthwhile and enjoyable! Extremely commendable for a local museum that hasn't an enormous budget like the British Museum.

This is a little gold mine of information about the local area, we loved it. We visited a few years ago but it deserves a great review.
