At Linton Zoo, emphasis is on conservation and education, while providing an enjoyable family outing. There is a wealth of rare and exotic creatures to see including Tigers, Lions, Tapirs, Lemurs, Owls, Parrots, Giant Tortoises, Tarantula Spiders and many others. The zoo is an ever evolving attraction, set in 18 acres of gardens and woodland with plenty of picnic areas. It is generally considered a one and a half hour visit but some visitors do stay longer especially on days when there is a full programme of keeper talks and activities. The favourite of all is the animal encounter sessions. Many of the aviaries and enclosures are heavily planted so you need to be prepared to take your time at each exhibit. Bear in mind that Linton Zoo is a breeding centre for endangered species and is not a commercial entertainment centre. There are several options to enhance your visit with a behind the scenes tour, money raised from these special tours directly support field conservation projects through our charity. There are sometimes late closing evenings with extra special activities aimed at giving you a better understanding of specific animals, details are posted on our Facebook and website. Expect country park like pathways, some are gravel and sand others are grass, because of the large trees there are occasional roots. The zoo is more or less all out in the open so there is little shelter on wet days, if you visit on a day with rain expected please do come suitably dressed with waterproof footwear. Free parking is within zoo grounds and there is a basic children's play area. The one toilet block is situated on the car park area which is within the zoo grounds and as the zoo is quite compact it is within easy reach most times. There is also a coffee shop which serves a wide range of snack and lunch items as well as hot and cold drinks. We are open all year but restricted hours during the winter months. Visit our website for visit information including opening hours and details of activities at weekends and during the school holidays. Our Facebook page will keep you updated with all the latest news and of course the latest cute baby pictures.

Not a bad zoo but definitely quite small. You pay in your car upon entrance but it's only £9 per adult so not too bad. Be warned, all the paths are grass/mud so if it's been wet wear appropriate shoes. Linton is essentially a breeding/conservation zoo so the focus is on the animals welfare, including making sure they have suitable... More

My girlfriend and I decided to go and do the big cat feeding experience for our anniversary. We had such an amazing time. We met the zoo keeper who was in charge of our experience and it was the owner of the zoo. I have to say that she was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We asked... More

AMAZING! Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting an amazing experience. To begin the zoo was not your normal concrete or tarmac path construction. It was a forest park, very natural and beautiful with plant life everywhere. This in turn gives the animals a more natural living environment and you can tell the animals are happy and EXTREMELY well looked... More

Wonderful visit with my family to feed the lemurs as a birthday treat for my daughter. Mikey showed us around and was so knowledgeable, telling us about lots of the animals and the zoo's conservation activities. Was fun watching the tapirs be fed and seeing a joey in a pouch! Also had a fun hands on experience with a guinea... More

We visited Linton zoo on a sunny Sunday in February for my sisters 40th birthday. We had a large group of all ages from 4 years to 63. We all loved it. Linton zoo is a wonderful family orientated and family run establishment. I have never seen such dedication to not only the animals but the conservation as well. They... More

We went to Linton many years ago when our daughter was small and went recently to see how it had changed. Still a lovely little zoo with quite a few rare species. Some of the enclosures and general appearance we felt do now need a little tlc although it is still excellent value for money as they do lots of... More

We booked for our 7 year old to have a keeper experience for the day in December. He had a fantastic time with loads of hands on experiences such as feeding wallabies, giant tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs and his favourites the lemurs. He was given loads of opportunities to learn about the animals as well as to really feel like... More

Good for a couple of hours. If you want a full zoo then go to Colchester. This is a private zoo with a small collection. There are no laid paths so take your wellies in bad weather. The pricing seems slightly high for a family of 4. £20 would have been a fair price. Lots of birds, some big cats... More

This little zoo gardens is one of our family's favourite places in the world to visit and relax. The zoo work incredibly hard to care for and maintain some of the worlds most endangered species ,it is clear to see the focus is truly on the animals here. They also do a lot of conservation work, some of which is... More
