The scale, grandeur and beauty of Stowe has inspired writers, philosophers, artists, politicians and members of the public from the 18th century to the present day. Since the National Trust acquired the gardens in the late 1980s, an ambitious programme of restoration has ensured that over 40 temples and monuments remain, gracing an inspiring backdrop of lakes and valleys with an endless variety of walks and trails, a delightful visit, any time of year.

This place is great to walk around I went here with my 8 & 3 yr old and they too really enjoyed it, as you drive up to the car parking area you marvel at the shear size of an arch way ahead and it looks spectacular. From the car park you cross over to a complex where you can... More

Beautiful views from every angle with lots to see and do. Go and explore a number of different follies, learn about their history, and stay in the Landmark Trust's 'Gothic Temple'.

Stowe provides opportunities for a range of excellent walks with stunning views. Then when finished Stowe's restaurant provides a range of drinks and food options. Totally recommend any time of year in all weather types.

Very misty day and we were newcomers. When we asked at the gate which way to go we were told any way. However, we walked miles!!!! Eventually after an hour or so walking we found the coffee shop and the main reception - why didn't they point that out at the start!!!! Shop wasn't terribly exciting nor was the coffee... More

I used their seasonal 'advent doors' map to explore all corners of this amazing parkland. Loved it. So many follies and unexpected gems. The advent doors were varied and well done, especially the epic tree and hundred presents that filled the Greek Temple!

This is a great place to visit. If you are a National Trust member then the gardens and parking are free. The car park and paths are gravel but it is best to wear wellies / walking boots. The parking is 5 minutes walk away from the entrance. The gardens are very picturesque with signage around the important areas for... More

First place we have visited as national trust members. It was a fab day out - lots of things to see and do. Kept us all interested all the way around. Will definitely be returning in the summer when it's not so cold and be staying for longer.

Even though our visit (between Christmas and New Year 2016) was timed on and incredibly busy day, we were still able to get 'lost' in the grounds and enjoy plenty of adventures and discoveries with our small boys. A visit to the grotto is a must, followed by the Thanet Walk. We can wait to return to see the rest... More

We had a lovely day following the map trails around this beautiful country park. When we arrived we were offered the Gift Aid price a couple of pounds more than the set price. It makes you feel bad turning down the Gift Aid but as I am against using Gift Aid for this kind of "charity" I was prepared to... More
