You can see the lighthouse from the viewing area of the cliffs. It’s a really nice area. You can also walk down to the beach area.

how can they "sell" a lighthouse as historic and put a sign that you are "entering sacred territory" when the lighthouse was built a couple of years ago, and from the original one not even saved a stone. It was a really frustrating experience and I think a lack of respect for history and preservation.

The whole experience is incredible, terrific views in so many directions. Great restaurant, shops and walking tour. Great areas for look outs.

Beautiful area and no crowds on April 30th which made it even better. The cliffs are stunning and it's one of my favorite lighthouses.

Beautiful lighthouse. Picturesque landscape. Scenic overlook to the iconic clay cliffs and beach below. Some small shops to browse souvenirs. Would suggest visiting when the weather is nice - no covered areas. Minimal on street parking. Also, restrooms were locked (we did visit on off-season) but a port-a-potty was on site.

Beautiful lighthouse at the cliffs. We visited during the off season so I am not sure if you can actually go in the lighthouse or not. We were only on the Island for a day trip and we didn’t get to this area until later in the afternoon. We rode the vineyard transit bus there and it was the last one for the day to this area. They allowed us to quickly hop off , run take pictures and then hop back on, so we didn’t get to actually go over to where the lighthouse is. Took pictures from the cliff parking area and as it was the fog had already started to roll in, so it wasn’t the best time to visit, but you could still tell that it was a beautiful lighthouse

The Aquinnah cliffs were one of the most spectacular things we saw on our trip and the view from the light house is breathtaking.

This is also know as gay head light. It was just moved about 130 ft to protect it from erosion. It is maintained and you can go in for about $5.

I enjoyed everything about Martha's Vineyard until my encounter with traffic cop at Gay Head... my host and our house were beautiful, Tisbury, Oaks Bluff, Edgartown, Chilmark Larsen's (omg the Lobster was the best), Seafood Shanty, the beaches, the people who live on the island, the business owners we talked with, the cops who provided directions and guidance were all kind, warm, and had the right kind of island feeling.
The traffic cop at Gay Head approached with a ticket book in his hand while we were driving in, did not offer any directions as to where to park even though there was parking at the end of the circle - we discovered that on our way out. He was very quick to offer parking tickets - but no directions to people who were visiting. I will plan to visit Martha's Vineyard again but will definitely not return to Gay Head sadly. I think the pictures I got there will have to suffice.

The lighthouse is located at the top of Aquinnah Cliffs and is open to the public for a small entrance fee. You can climb to the very top where the revolving light is located. Pretty cool! There is limited, timed parking at this location and I mean timed!! Over stay by just a minute and you'll receive your souvenir parking summons from the Town of Aquinnah! If you're going to tour the lighthouse, shops and have lunch, then park in the lot at the bottom of the hill.
