    4pm bees and honey tour
Just a twenty minute walk south of the main square of Valladolid you will find this oasis of tranquility. We went twice: the first time was interrupted by a thunderstorm, but the second we managed to enjoy an interesting and informative tour of the dry cenote where the bees live. Mario told us a little of the culture of his ancestors, as well as the science and nature of bees and honey. Very friendly. (And very friendly people in the barrio San Juan as we walked to/from the main square… holas and buenos días from all).

    Unique Mayan Bee Experience 🐝
We really enjoyed the Bee tour and honey tasting. As someone with a personal interest in natural beekeeping this was an amazing irreplaceable experience. For the rest of my family who are just generally interested in bees, they also really enjoyed the tour and learned new things. The ability to observe the inside of several hives and see so many different kinds of bees in one place was extremely, extremely unique. Our guide Joel was excellent and shared a lot of information about different native plants and trees including their Mayan folklore that we couldn't have gotten anywhere else. His knowledge and enthusiasm for connecting with people really enriched our experience. The honey tasting was really extensive and we were legitimately excited to purchase some strong medicinal honey at really reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

    Informative and fun excursion
Great short educational tourist attraction not raving. With tourists. Learn a lot about nature and the ancient Mayan relationship with their native honey bees. Fantactic array of a variety of species with an if to drive guide and lots of honey related gifts and treats at the end to buy. All ages can enjoy

Interesting and unique attraction in Valladolid
Unique experience in Valladolid, and probably on any of your trips - visit a bee farm, and bees that you can get up close without wearing any protective gear! Also the staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond. I left my backpack behind, and then drove 2 hours to Tulum before realising. They moved heaven and earth to find a solution to send my backpack to me in the following days, which I was very grateful for! There's also lodgings and restaurant on-site.

Fascinating! Eduardo is an excellent guide! We enjoyed the tour and learned a great deal. I particularly enjoyed seeing the dry cenote and the glass-sided boxes which showed how different the hives were inside. Tasting the varieties of honey was a great way to end.

My friend and I really enjoyed the Mayan Bee tour. It was very interesting and informative. The area is beautiful and it was the first time I had ever been in a dry cenote. The honey tasting at the end was fun and delicious. We then had a nice lunch at the restaurant where we enjoyed eating beside a lovely fountain and listening to beautiful Spanish guitar music. It wasn’t too long of a tour and so close to the town square so a cheap taxi ride.

I booked my visit to Xkopek on Viator - in hindsight, this was not necessary - you can book via WhatsApp or try to walk in. Nonetheless, I think this experience was really good value for about 20$ USD. The business was very responsive on What'sApp and changed my visit time with zero hassle. I took a taxi from town (the driver knew where it was and the ride was very cheap). The staff was welcoming, and I joined a great 90 minute tour to a dry cenote, bee box area, and a woman from Kanxoc demonstrating tortilla making - we got to try sikil pak and a chaya drink also. I learned a lot about the ecosystem and the stingless bees. My guide had beautiful Spanish, English and French and used all of them with our group; he also knew and was able to teach about the Maya language. We finished up a honey tasting which was very nice and hygienic. Since I booked the tour, I was also able to stay for lunch at their restaurant. The lunch of poc chuc was a bit dry but tasty and a generous portion, with included (and very good) Jamaica, beans and homemade tortillas. The shop was inviting also- I picked up a few honey themed gifts - throat lozenges and soap. All in all, I would visit again - the property itself is very inviting, and if you stay overnight they have a pretty great pool.

I really had no expectations about visiting the site, but boy was I pleasantly surprised. It was an excellent tour, very informative. The guide spoke perfect English. The place is just beautiful. We enjoyed it so much, we stayed for lunch and the food was excellent. I highly recommend a visit. Would be a great place to take children.

Andres is an excellent tour guide sharing his vast knowledge of native and non-native bees and the importance in the Mayan culture. Lunch was very pleasant with an oasis atmosphere.
