Yal-ku lagoon is a wonderful experience, there are lots of different amazing fish from queen parrot fish to barracudas. Great for experience as there is a perfect place for free diving in the open. Also great for beginners as there is lots of little coves with easy snorkeling. We went on a cloudy day and found it clear and easy... More

We went here on a recommendation from friends. It was very nice and relaxing. There were plenty of different fish to see. At times it was hard to see in the water due to the mixing of salt and fresh water causing a hazy look to the water, but that is how all these areas are. It is way less... More

Then, its fabulous like it was for us this time (3rd time visit). TONS of cool fish on this trip. The price tag to get in seems to go up every year, so we'll probably skip it next time, but its worth a visit if you've never been.

If you want to get away from the crowds at Akumal Bay, try Yal-ku lagoon. This is a large area of natural "canals" and pools- not the open sea. It's quite deep in spots and you can see some big fish in here. There is a small entrance fee, parking, changing rooms, and lockers with keys. It's way at the... More

Yal-ku Lagoon is just amazing. A great place to get in the water and see many different types of tropical fish. We went with a guide and had a great experience. I have read some of the other negative reviews and can say we did not have any experiences like that. Maybe being with a guide made the difference. We... More

Yal-Ku is a fabulous destination for snorkeling. The aquatic life just under the surface is, for a northerner, a mind-blowing experience! You will drop into the water and start swimming among hundreds of fantastically colorful fish, who quite properly ignore your presence completely - all except for the little cheeky and fierce black fish who try to "bite" you with... We went on a tour that included this area. Just gorgeous.A lot of marshland with many types of large birds, went snorkelling and saw turtles very clearly. Lovely lagoon with a mixture of fresh water and sea water..

YOU go on past Akumal Bay which also has great snorkeling almost to the end and follow the signs to Yal Ku. There is a parking fee, place to rent a Palapa for the day showers and changing room also a place to eat. The gardens are beautiful with fantastic sculptures everywhere. No beach but steps down to the lagoon. The... More

For anyone wanting to experience the amazing sea life of Cancun and the area MUST make this a destination. Yal Ku is a private snorkeling lagoon in the town of Akumal (another must go place) with facilities, easy in and out of the water and a fascinating property filled with beautiful art sculptures, sunbathing areas and a few private bungalows....
